Lakers get meme treatment for ugly loss to Pistons
The JJ Redick honeymoon period appears to be over for the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers suffered an upset loss on Monday night to the Detroit Pistons, falling by a 115-103 final score. They trailed by as many 20 points during the contest and never got any closer than five after mounting a late comeback. Ultimately, it was the Pistons, led by 26 points from Jaden Ivey and a 17-11-11 triple-double from Cade Cunningham, who controlled the game from start to finish.
As a result of the unexpected loss to a Pistons team that went 14-68 last season, the Lakers were memed into the sun on social media. Here were some of the funniest jokes at the expense of the purple and gold.
"The Pistons have a 14-point lead in the first half against the Lakers."

The Lakers got off to a 3-0 start to the season but are now just 4-3 overall after losing three of their last four games on the road. They allowed 17 total offensive rebounds to the Pistons on Monday and also lost the bench scoring battle 27-10.
The new Lakers head coach Redick has done a good job overall to run an Anthony Davis-centric offense and also to utilize his best possible lineups (including more minutes shared between LeBron James and Austin Reaves). But with a rotation featuring no new free agent signings from the offseason, Redick might need the Lakers to make a trade acquisition (such as this rumored one) in order to be truly competitive this season.
