Mike Scott shares his side of brawl with Eagles fans

Philadelphia 76ers forward Mike Scott made headlines earlier in the month when he was captured on camera tussling with Eagles fans at Lincoln Financial Field, and he was asked about the incident during his media availability on Monday.

Scott, who was born in Virginia and was at the season opener to support the Washington Redskins, admitted he should have been the “bigger person” and walked away, but he said a Philly fan antagonized him and even used a racial slur.

“Definitely should have walked away before it got to that point. I’ve got to be the bigger person and walk away,” Scott said, per Kyle Neubeck of The Philly Voice. “He was poppin hella s—, he was going off, throwing slurs out there.”

Scott added that he wanted to see if the fan who was talking trash to him would “match that energy,” and he then joked about getting into a brawl before noon and still enjoying the game.

The 76ers do not plan to discipline Scott over the incident, and it does not appear as though the NBA will either. Sixers big man Joel Embiid has since made light of the altercation during another NFL game, so Scott has probably had his fair share of being needled over it. He’s fortunate it didn’t get uglier.
