Patrick Beverley trolls Russell Westbrook over poor play

Patrick Beverley celebrates a play

Russell Westbrook has been benched multiple times for his erratic play this season, and one of the Los Angeles Lakers star’s old foes seems to be really enjoying the messy situation.

Patrick Beverley and Westbrook have traded trash talk and had multiple on-court altercations over the years. In 2019, Westbrook was dismissive of Beverley’s reputation for being a great defensive player. Westbrook said that Beverley, who was with the Los Angeles Clippers at the time, fools people into thinking he’s playing great defense when really he is “running around doing nothing.”

Beverley clearly did not forget about the comments. He took a funny shot at Westbrook with a tweet on Thursday.

Westbrook sat out Wednesday night’s game with tightness in his lower back. He was benched for stretches late in the two games prior to that. There has been talk of the Lakers potentially trading him, though finding a suitor will not be easy.

Westbrook and Beverley have had several run-ins over the years. Westbrook has taken multiple shots at the Minnesota Timberwolves guard and once trolled him when Beverley was ejected from a game (video here). It’s no surprise Beverley decided to kick Westbrook while his rival is down.
