Steph Curry to wear mid-low shoe instead of high-top

Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry will be seen sporting a new look when he returns to the court on Friday, according to a report.

ESPN’s Chris Haynes says that Curry will be wearing a mid-low shoe on Friday against the Atlanta Hawks. Since beginning to wear a signature line of sneakers with Under Armour, Curry has worn high-tops, but he’s now switching it up.

“I wanted to switch it up a little bit with a light shoe that could help speed the game up for me,” Curry said, via ESPN’s Haynes. “It is kind of ironic that I made the switch this season considering my ankle issues, but this shoe is stable and engineered to maximize my performance. I will still wear my ankle braces, but I have total comfort and security in my new shoe.”

As Curry said, he will wear an ankle brace so that he still has support.

The 30-year-old guard has not played since March 8 due to an ankle injury and has missed six games. A new version of his shoes — the Curry 5 — were unveiled last week on his birthday (and also sent to UMBC, an Under Armour school).
