Report: Trevor Ariza to Lakers is ‘done’ deal

Trevor Ariza

Trevor Ariza becoming a member of the Los Angeles Lakers is a “done” deal according to one reporter.

Kevin O’Connor said on “The Ringer NBA Show” published Tuesday that he’s heard from multiple NBA executives who have told him Ariza is going to the Lakers.

“I’ve had a handful of NBA executives tell me that they’ve heard that that’s going to happen,” O’Connor said on the podcast. “It’s done. It’s just a matter of everything else — figuring out what the rest of that deal is.”

Ariza surprisingly signed with the Phoenix Suns over the offseason, but the move has not worked out well for either side. Phoenix is a mess, while Ariza has been bad all season.

Multiple recent reports have said Ariza is expected to be traded and that the Lakers are among the teams interested in him. Ariza cannot be traded until Dec. 15, which is when players who signed free agent contracts over the offseason are eligible to be dealt.

Adding to the rumors is the fact that Ariza did not play in Phoenix’s game on Tuesday, which suggests they may be protecting him from injury, possibly because they already have a deal in place for him.
