Trevor Ariza throws away inbound pass with 6.1 seconds remaining (GIF)
After blowing a 19-point second half lead, the Wizards still had a chance to send the game to overtime. They were trailing by three but had the ball beyond half court with 6.1 seconds remaining. However, Trevor Ariza threw a lousy inbound pass that deflected off Bradley Beal’s hand and was tracked down by Paul George.
It was a very fitting end to the night, as the Wizards really didn’t deserve to win and George went off for 39 points. He also tied a Pacers franchise playoff record with seven made 3-pointers.
John Wall also passed up a wide open 3-pointer with less than a minute left and Washington trailing by three.
The Wizards will now attempt to keep their season alive in Indiana on Tuesday night for Game 5. It would be very surprising if they can bounce back from that type of disaster.
