Paige Spiranac rips Logan Paul fight as ‘money grab’

Paige Spiranac

Paige Spiranac is no fan of Logan Paul and doesn’t think much of the social media star’s upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Spiranac, the social media famous former golfer, described Paul’s fight with Mayweather as a “money grab” on her podcast. She also shared why she is not a fan of Paul.

Spiranac, 27, says she has hated Paul ever since receiving death threats from his fans.

“I did an anti-bullying talk at a school and it was right after Logan Paul filmed a guy committing suicide in this forest,” Spiranac said on her iHeartRadio show. “It was a huge controversy and I was asked what I thought about it.

“I said, ‘If you have a large following of a younger viewing audience, you have to be careful with the content that you put out there.’ And I think he should have been punished more by YouTube or his sponsors or there needed to be some form of consequence bigger than what he got.

“And I ended up receiving death threats by all of these kids in that high school, that they were defending Logan Paul, and so ever since then I have hated him.”

Spiranac also said she couldn’t believe people want to see Paul and Mayweather in the exhibition. Paul and Mayweather are aiming to shatter pay-per-view records, but we have lots of doubts about them being able to generate so many buys.

Spiranac is right. It’s hard to believe people would want to watch Paul and Mayweather in a fight that doesn’t count, especially when we know it’s just for money. But some people will.

Massive alligator on Florida golf course goes viral

An absolutely massive alligator spotted walking along a Florida golf course went viral on Thursday.

NBC2 Fort Meyers morning reporter Nicolette Perdomo shared a video on Twitter of the massive beast, which led to thousands of views and retweets. The gator was seen walking through Valencia Golf and Country Club in Naples, Fla on Wednesday. Tyler Stolting, a golf pro at the club, recorded the video.

Stolting told NBC that the gator looks even more massive in person.

“I don’t even think the video does it justice, really. In person, it looked gigantic. It looked like a Jurassic Park creature,” Stolting said.

Alligators being seen around Florida and specifically on golf courses is nothing new. A few years ago, there was a massive gator walking around a course in Palmetto, Fla. One alligator was even found in a minor league baseball dugout in Daytona.

There is no doubt about it: this alligator is massive and terrifying looking.

ESPN announcer Dave Pasch mocks Kim Kardashian Twitter post with hilarious photo

Dave Pasch Bill Walton

Kim Kardashian inadvertently set off a funny trend on Twitter Tuesday with a post showing off her wealth and good fortune.

Kardashian boasted about how she was able to celebrate her 40th birthday with a trip to a private island. Here was the Twitter post:

The post did not go over well for many reasons. Most notably, boasting about how great things are going for you while so many people in the world are struggling leads to resentment.

Many people mocked the post by using it as a template in which they included a funny photo.

ESPN announcer Dave Pasch had the best photo of all. He shared a picture of his broadcasting partner, Bill Walton, dressed up with a grass skirt.

That was a winner.

PFT Commenter nailed it too with an old photo of NFL coaches.

New Jersey’s Twitter account also had a winner:

Well played by all, especially Pasch.

Twitter Bitcoin hack results in verified accounts being unable to send tweets

Twitter fail whale

A massive Twitter hack directing users to supply Bitcoin to an account broke out on Wednesday, leading to the social media service to prevent some activity from verified accounts.

The hack appeared to involve some gaining access to the Twitter accounts of high-profile people and sending tweets from those accounts asking for Bitcoin donations as part of an apparent scam.

The accounts of Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Joe Biden, Kanye West, Michael Bloomberg and Warren Buffett were targeted, among a list of others.

Twitter acknowledged the issue and said that some accounts would be unable to tweet in the meantime.

The significance of a hack of this magnitude is massive. If the security for this many high-profile accounts can be breached, it signifies that Twitter has massive work to do to ensure the protection of its users.

Gymnastics world mourns death of Kurt Thomas, first US male gymnast to win world championship gold medal

Kurt Thomas

The gymnastics world is mourning the death of Kurt Thomas, who was the first U.S. male gymnast to win a world championship gold medal.

Thomas died at the age of 64 on Saturday, nearly two weeks after suffering a stroke on May 24 caused by a tear of the basilar artery in the brain stem, according to the AP.

“Yesterday, I lost my universe, my best friend and my soulmate of 24 years. Kurt lived his life to the extreme, and I will be forever honored to be his wife,” Beckie Thomas told International Gymnast Magazine.

Thomas was born in Miami and went to college at Indiana State, where he was a five-time NCAA champion and led them to the 1977 national championship. He went on to compete on an international stage, representing the U.S. at the 1976 Summer Olympics. In 1978, he won gold in the floor exercise at the world championships, becoming the first U.S. male gymnast to do so. Thomas won gold again in the floor exercise at the 1979 world championship and added gold in the horizontal bar that year too.

Thomas won three gold medals, three silvers, and two bronzes at the world championships during his gymnastics career; two silvers and two bronzes at the Pan American Games; and three golds in the American Cup.

Thomas was the pioneer of the famous “Thomas Flair” move on the pommel horse and the “Thomas salto” in the floor exercise. He also starred in the 1985 movie “Gymkata.”

Here are some of the tributes he received online from those in the gymnastics community:
