Bill Belichick, girlfriend Linda Holliday make appearance at Rob Gronkowski’s Super Bowl beach party
Rob Gronkowski is in Miami for Super Bowl weekend, hosting a beach party on the eve of the big game. That isn’t really a surprise. What is a surprise is one of the attendees.
Gronkowski clearly keeps in touch with his former coach, because Bill Belichick, along with his girlfriend Linda Holliday, made a surprise appearance at Gronkowski’s beach party on Saturday afternoon.

This is the first Super Bowl weekend Belichick has had off in four years. There is absolutely no question that he hates that. On the other hand, he’s free to attend the Gronk beach party, so who’s really winning here? The only question at this point is how wild things get once the Patriots coach gets partying.
Belichick has been a bit chilly to Gronk’s post-retirement publicity stunts and announcements in the past. Now that the coach doesn’t have any games to obsessively gameplan for the next several months, he can kick back, relax, and indulge a bit.
Rob Gronkowski frequently looked last season like a guy who didn’t want to be there. The now-retired tight end admits that was the case.
Gronk was interviewed on Barstool Radio Thursday and said there were times he didn’t want to be on the field.
“I 100 percent lost a step (last year),” Gronk said, via WEEI’s Ryan Hannable. “I actually lost like three steps some games. I didn’t even want to be out there on the field. I was like, ‘Yo, I feel like complete a–. Coach, put Dwayne (Allen) in, I don’t even care.’ I was at that point.”
Gronk is only 30, and the Patriots desperately needed offensive weapons this season, which led to numerous comeback rumors. Gronk even capitalized on those rumors.
But he acknowledged the thought of making an NFL return never seriously crossed his mind.
Did you get the urge at any point this season to play in a game?
Rob Gronkowski on @BarstoolRadio: “No, not at all.”

In his final season, Gronk has 47 catches for 682 yards and three touchdowns. He averaged his fewest yards per game (52.5) since his rookie season. He often looked slow, displayed bad body language, and came across as a guy who did not want to be out there.
The thought of him returning to the Patriots seemed to make sense on the surface, and was buttressed by rumors, but maybe never was realistic based on how Gronk felt.
Tom Brady has a major decision to make on his future this offseason, and many people are weighing in on it — including some who know him quite well.
One of them is former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Gronk said he hadn’t spoken to his former quarterback specifically about his decision, but he thinks Brady should explore his options as he heads toward free agency at the age of 42.
“I truly believe he deserves the opportunity to go explore and see what’s out there,” Gronkowski said at a FOX Sports media event Tuesday, via Charean Williams of ProFootballTalk. “He’s been playing for so long, and just the way he’s been playing and the level he’s been playing at, he definitely deserves an opportunity to go out there and test the market. I mean, why wouldn’t you? You’ve never done it before in your career, and he’s going to be a free agent for the first time ever. So good for him. Go test out the market and then do what’s best for himself. That’s the decision he has to make is what’s best for himself; what’s best for his family; what he feels like he’s going to love. That’s all up to Tom. He’s a grown man, and he’ll be able to make that decision on his own.”
There’s still a huge lack of clarity about Brady’s future, but it feels for the first time like he might actually leave the Patriots, or at least give it a lot of thought. There’s plenty of evidence that the Patriots want to keep him, but the final decision will lie with the quarterback himself.
Rob Gronkowski learned a lot from Tom Brady during the nine seasons he spent with the New England Patriots, and it’s probably safe to assume the majority of it had to do with football. However, Gronk may have picked up a few fashion tips as well.
Gronkowski was part of the FOX broadcast during the network’s New Year’s countdown on Tuesday, and Brady appreciated his former teammate’s wardrobe selection. The quarterback showed Gronk some love on Instagram, and Gronkowski said he “took notes from you Tommy.”

Gronk called 2020 the year of the turtleneck, which is something Brady might be able to get on board with. Brady, who is big into fashion, has been known to wear a turtleneck from time to time.
Gronkowski seems to be enjoying his work in television, though he has not ruled out possibly playing in the NFL again. Even if he doesn’t return to the Patriots, Brady appreciates some of the improvements Gronk has made off the field.
Rob Gronkowski may be retired from playing in the NFL, but that won’t stop him from getting in his spikes.
Gronk, who now serves as a personality during FOX’s NFL coverage, was part of FOX’s New Year’s Eve coverage with Steve Harvey on Tuesday night in New York City. Much like he used to do after scoring touchdowns on the field, Gronk decided to spike something. He took a Steve Harvey Lego statue and shattered it across the stage. Here’s the video:

You have to love Gronk’s old school football outfit too that set the stage for the spike.
The cherry on top of Gronk’s coverage included him getting the “C” wrong while doing YMCA.

Gronk may have messed with fans with his “announcement” recently, but he’s making up for it in other ways, like these. This is the type of nonsense from Gronk that we crave.
Rob Gronkowski has joined FOX’s NFL crew and is a great addition. That was made so apparent during halftime of Sunday’s Dallas Cowboys-New England Patriots game.
Speaking during the game break with the Pats up 10-6 on Dallas, Gronk explained why the Patriots were better suited to survive and win the contest, which was played in cold and rainy conditions.
The former Patriots tight end said that Bill Belichick forces the Patriots to practice in all sorts of conditions. Contrarily, he says Jerry Jones lets the Cowboys practice indoors “in the bubble” in bad weather.
"If there's a little rain in Dallas, a little snow in Dallas, Jerry Jones comes out and says "Do you guys wanna practice in the bubble today?" That's why it's advantage Patriots and that's why they're kicking butt today" -Gronk pic.twitter.com/MqsEPzjaSu

Gronk is correct — the Cowboys often practice indoors at the Ford Center when there is bad weather. However, they did practice outdoors ahead of a road game against the Giants to prepare for the bad weather.
Just hearing Gronk take that kind of shot at Jerry Jones and essentially call the Cowboys soft is great. Who else would fearlessly say such a thing? Just Gronk, who often brings the humor when he speaks.
Rob Gronkowski took to social media over the weekend to tease a “big announcement” that he was planning to make on Tuesday, and New England Patriots fans have once again been let down by their former tight end.
Gronkowski is planning to be in attendance at the Super Bowl in Miami, but not as a player. He is hosting a music festival called “Gronk Beach.”
“Future Hall of Famer and 3X Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski is no stranger to Big Game Weekend. He may not be playing in the game this year, but he is taking Miami by storm with his personal music festival – Gronk Beach,” a description on the event’s official website reads. “Constructed right on the sand of Miami Beach, GRONK’s eccentric personality will come to life combining his favorite artists, food, drinks, beach performers, and more!”
So, there goes that. Gronkowski has until Nov. 30 to decide whether or not he will return from the reserve/retired list, but this almost certainly means he has no plans to play again this season. We probably could have guessed that based on what Bill Belichick said this week about Gronk’s upcoming announcement.
This is the second time Gronk has teased a big announcement that made Patriots fans think he could be making a comeback, but he is simply using all the comeback buzz as a marketing tool. Fans in New England probably don’t appreciate it, but it’s a smart approach.
