Referees cost Auburn by missing Ty Jerome double-dribble violation
Two incidents at the end of the Auburn-Virginia Final Four game on Saturday both went against the Tigers, costing them a win and chance at playing for the national championship.
The first call that didn’t go their way occurred when Virginia guard Ty Jerome dribbled the ball off his foot before crossing halfcourt and picking it back up.

Double-dribble should have been called, which would have been a turnover and given the ball to Auburn up 62-60. That probably would have sealed things in their favor.
The next call that went against them came when Samir Doughty was called for fouling Kyle Guy on a 3-point attempt with a second left.

That call put Guy at the line for three attempts, all of which he made. Virginia ended up winning 63-62 to improbably advance to Monday night’s championship.
Even Auburn fan Charles Barkley agreed with the foul call, but the missed double-dribble really hurt Auburn and cost them dearly. That’s a tough way to lose.
