Cincinnati Football sends funny tweet during rain delay with BC

Boston College was unable to finish its bowl game against Boise State last year due to severe weather that eventually forced the cancellation of the game, and they unfortunately picked up right where they left off in Thursday’s showdown with Cincinnati.

Roughly seven minutes into the first quarter of the Birmingham Bowl, players were forced to leave the field due to lightning in the area. The situation was eerily similar to the one BC dealt with in the First Responder Bowl a year ago, and Cincinnati Football’s official Twitter account kindly asked the Eagles stop bringing the inclement weather with them.

BC’s game against Boise State was originally delayed about 10 minutes into the first quarter last year, and the Eagles had a 7-0 lead at the time. The two teams waited several hours before eventually deciding to cancel the game, as there were likely issues with flights and accommodations that could not be overcome.

We saw some pretty funny tweets after last year’s weather cancellation, which was the first ever in a bowl game. If it happens to BC in two consecutive bowl games, it would be a lot less humorous and just plain cruel. Don’t do it, Mother Nature.
