Clemson DE has curious quote about facing Lamar Jackson
Austin Bryant isn’t too worried about facing Lamar Jackson and Louisville.
On Monday, the Clemson defensive end had a curious quote about his team’s upcoming matchup this weekend against the reigning Heisman winner.
“[Lamar is] a special talent,” said Bryant, per Matt Connolly of The State. “He’s got a different gear. He’s strong, he’s fast. So it’s going to present us a great challenge, but I believe that we face that same thing in [Clemson starting quarterback] Kelly Bryant every day in practice. It should be just like putting practice on a game day atmosphere.”
The comparison is a bit of a stretch, to say the least. Though Jackson and Kelly Bryant are both dual-threat QBs, the former is in his third season producing at an elite level as a starter, while the latter is a newly-christened starter with as many career passing touchdowns as career interceptions at the moment.
That said, the No. 3-ranked Tigers will enter Saturday’s game as three-point favorites over the No. 14-ranked Cardinals, so perhaps this is another timely bit of psychological warfare on the part of Clemson.
