Plenty of empty seats at Levi’s Stadium for National Championship Game

There were plenty of empty seats minutes before kickoff at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. for Monday night’s National Championship Game between Alabama and Clemson.

Alabama reporter Michael Casagrande shared this photo, which shows empty seats in pretty much every section of the stadium.

The scattered amount of fans is not surprising. One of the big stories ahead of the game was the low price of tickets to attend.

There are probably a few factors contributing to this. One, Alabama and Clemson have met the past three years, twice in the national title game, so it’s possible there is some fatigue from fans. Two, the game is in Northern California, far from either fan base, and it probably has limited appeal for those in the area.
