Georgia freshman DL Bill Norton arrested on alcohol-related charges

Georgia football

A member of Georgia’s highly touted 2019 recruiting class has found himself in some legal trouble before his first season on campus.

Defensive lineman Bill Norton was arrested on Sunday morning on three charges, two of which were suspicion of driving while under the influence and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was also charged with failure to maintain lane/improper driving, according to police records obtained by Saturday Down South.

It would not have mattered if Norton failed a breathalyzer or field sobriety exam, as persons under the age of 21 can be charged with DUI under Georgia law if they are driving and in possession of alcohol whether they were under the influence of not.

Norton is a four-star recruit who drew strong interest from Tennessee in addition to Georgia and other schools. The 6-foot-6, 255-pound lineman was expected to redshirt this season.
