Houston loses to UCF on heartbreaking fumble at goal line (Video)

There are bad beats and then there’s what happened to Houston on Thursday night.

The Cougars were down 17-6 in the fourth quarter, but backup quarterback Greg Ward Jr. led them on a pair of scoring drives to make it 17-12. He had them in position to go in for the lead in the final minute, but he had the ball punched out of his hands at the goal line for a touchback.

Ward Jr. broke down the left sidelines on a run on 1st-and-goal from the 20 following a 10-yard penalty and looked like he was going to be the hero. Instead, UCF’s Brandon Alexander made the play of the game by knocking out the ball.
