Louisiana Tech, TCU coaches downplay air conditioning issue at Texas

Texas Longhorns football

Texas has been accused of not providing its first two opponents of the season with air conditioning in the visiting locker room, but Louisiana Tech head coach Skip Holtz does not seem to think it was a major issue for his team in Week 1.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron confirmed on Monday that his Tigers had no AC in the locker room at Texas Memorial Stadium during their big win on Saturday night, but he said they were prepared because Louisiana Tech alerted them of the issue ahead of time. Louisiana Tech coach Skip Holtz said Tuesday that if the Tigers were given word, it wasn’t from him.

Texas beat Louisiana Tech 45-14 whereas LSU defeated the Longhorns, so it’s easier for Orgeron to talk about the AC problem without sounding like he was making excuses. For what it’s worth, Texas released a statement this week saying they did not receive any complaints and feel they provide visiting teams with a great experience.

TCU coach Gary Patterson said Tuesday that his team has never experienced any issues when traveling to face their in-state rival.

The temperature for the LSU-Texas game was around 100 degrees, and many Tigers players went down with cramps. The Longhorns seem to think at least one LSU player was faking it, so this has turned into one big game of he-said, she-said.
