Tee Martin reportedly joining Tennessee staff

Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt is making some significant additions to his staff this offseason, and the latest will likely be well received among Vols fans.

ESPN’s Chris Low reported early Tuesday morning that Tennessee is hiring Tee Martin for an assistant coaching role. Martin has been coaching since 2006 mostly as a wide receivers coach, so it’s possible current Tennessee receivers coach David Johnson could be on his way out the door.

Tennessee already made a major move last week when they hired Jim Chaney away from Georgia to be their offensive coordinator.

Martin is beloved by Tennessee fans for leading the team to a national championship with a win in the Fiesta Bowl 20 years ago. He became the Vols’ quarterback after Peyton Manning broke numerous records at the school, so it goes without saying that there were huge shoes to fill.

Martin served as an assistant coach at USC from 2012-2018, and he developed a reputation as a strong recruiter. That is likely one of the main reasons Pruitt is adding him to his staff.
