Empty seats once again became a talking point during Saturday’s USC-Louisiana college football game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in L.A., Calif.
The Trojans put on an offensive show for their home fans with six touchdowns in a 49-30 victory over the Ragin’ Cajuns. But there just weren’t all that many fans to cheer after every score, as several vacant chairs were visible on the Big Ten Network broadcast.

There were hardly any folks in the stands at all just about an hour before kickoff and it didn’t get much better as the game progressed.

Attendance at the Coliseum to start the fourth quarter. Is the late kickoff to blame?

The USC fan base got similarly clowned for their poor turnout for the Trojans’ season opener against San Jose State. But USC students and alumni could at least blame that on the high temperatures during the Aug. 30 game.
The weather was perfectly fine Saturday against Louisiana.
Tons of empty seats at the USC game again tonight. It’s 74 degrees. Time to admit nobody cares about that program. pic.twitter.com/tCCV5Zso93

The official attendance number for the USC-Louisiana game was 60,019, roughly 80% of the L.A. Coliseum’s maximum capacity. The figure didn’t exactly pass the eye test based on photos and shots from the broadcast.
The No. 14 Trojans have started the season 3-0, but have yet to play an opponent of the same caliber. The real test for the team in both football and fan attendance will come on Sept. 26, when No. 6 Oregon comes to town.
