Report: 11 of 12 Patriots balls were underinflated for AFC Championship Game
The NFL has not yet wrapped up its investigation regarding the balls used by the Patriots during the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, but the evidence so far does not look good for them.
According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the league found that 11 of 12 game balls by the Patriots were underinflated by two pounds of air in pressure per square inch.
The league says it is not commenting on the issue yet, while senior VP Troy Vincent told PFT they expect to wrap up the investigation in two or three days. For now, it sounds like they are not happy with the development.
Mort says a source described the league as “disappointed … angry … distraught” regarding the findings.
Before anyone jumps to conclusions, the league has to determine how the balls became under-inflated. Balls lose pressure just from the cold weather, which there certainly was a lot of on Sunday. But would that be enough to make the balls lose as much pressure as they did?
