AJ McCarron could be of interest to Cleveland Browns

AJ McCarron

AJ McCarron is a name that has not been mentioned much this NFL offseason, but that may change.

As the quarterback market is beginning to take shape and some teams are in pursuit of an arm, they could turn to the Cincinnati Bengals to see about prying away McCarron.

McCarron went 79-of-119 for 854 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions last season in place of Andy Dalton. He was 2-1 as a starter and looked very respectable holding things down while Dalton was out. It’s for that reason that Adam Schefter said on ESPN Wednesday that he thinks teams will start calling the Bengals about McCarron.

“I think the Bengals will get calls on AJ McCarron this offseason,” Schefter said. He also said he thinks one of those calls could come from the Cleveland Browns.

Schefter pointed out that the Browns’ new head coach is Hue Jackson, who was McCarron’s offensive coordinator in Cincy. If Jackson liked what he saw of McCarron the past two years, he may push the Browns to trade for AJ.
