Report: AJ McCarron has sprained wrist, could play Sunday

Bengals quarterback A.J. McCarron suffered a wrist injury during Monday night’s overtime loss to the Broncos, but it doesn’t sound like it will keep him sidelined.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that McCarron did not break any bones and could play against the Ravens. The injury is to McCarron’s left (non-throwing) wrist, so he is intent on playing through it despite the severity.

That is good news for the Bengals, who are already without starting quarterback Andy Dalton and still have a shot at earning a first-round playoff bye. If McCarron is unable to start, third-string quarterback Keith Wenning would get the nod.

Cincinnati is hoping to come away with a win over Baltimore and have the Broncos lose to the Chargers. That would give them a bye and allow Dalton’s fractured thumb an extra week to heal.
