Bill Belichick cracks funny joke about his time as head coach of the Jets
Bill Belichick’s decision to bail on the Jets in favor of the Patriots back in 1999 is something that has made him one of the most hated people among New York sports fans, but the head coach has a good sense of humor about it.
When Bill Parcells stepped down as the head coach of the Jets in 1999, Belichick was announced to the media as his mentor’s successor. The following day, he resigned to take the same job in New England. During his weekly appearance on WEEI Monday, Belichick cracked a well-time joke about that.
Belichick cracks a joke on @OMFonWEEI about his tenure as Jets head coach: "Adam Gase has already outlasted me."

Adam Gase was introduced as the the head coach of the Jets a week ago, so he has already spent seven times longer as the man in charge there than Belichick. Obviously, Belichick isn’t envious.
In the past, Belichick has seemed like he doesn’t want to acknowledge his incredibly brief tenure as head coach of the Jets. He was clearly in a good mood after the Patriots won yet another AFC title.
