Buffalo Bills run out of healthy running backs against Lions
The Buffalo Bills ran out of healthy running backs during their game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Buffalo began the game shorthanded as LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Chris Ivory (shoulder) were declared out with injuries. Marcus Murphy, a former 7th-round pick, saw a bulk of the carries early in the game and rushed for 35 yards on 11 carries. But he suffered an arm injury and was ruled out for the game.
The injury to Murphy led to Keith Ford seeing action. Ford rushed for 39 yards on 9 carries, but he got hurt on a third down rush in the third quarter. Ford later re-entered the game and carried the ball in the fourth quarter, but that was after he had been hurt.
On top of all that, gadget player Isaiah McKenzie also exited with a leg injury, though he later returned.
With so few offensive weapons available, it’s no surprise Buffalo’s offense struggled to put up points for most of the game.
