DeSean Jackson: It’s ‘disturbing’ Eagles fans boo when Chip Kelly cut me

DeSean Jackson helped the Redskins clinch the NFC East title with a win over the Eagles Saturday night, but the three-time Pro Bowler does not understand why Philly fans are so hostile toward him.

After the game, Jackson said it is “disturbing” that Eagles fans boo him when it wasn’t his choice to leave.

“It’s disturbing to come back and get the boos from the crowd and the fans because it’s not my decision to leave. Chip Kelly released me,” Jackson said, per Anthony Gulizia of The Washington Times. “Knowing what I did for the city, in the community and things like that, I put my heart into it. That part is frustrating, but it doesn’t get any better than coming in here and winning and putting them out.

“That guy over there, he was the coach. He made the decision, but I’m happy to be where I’m at, and we’re having a lot of success over here.”

While it’s true that Kelly wanted Jackson gone amid some alleged concerns that DeSean was affiliated with a gang, the wide receiver didn’t exactly praise Eagles fans on his way out the door. In fact, he insulted them by comparing them unfavorably to Redskins fans.

“In between the lines and out, I put in a lot of hard work, a lot of success and had the city behind me,” Jackson said Saturday of his time in Philadelphia.

The city was behind Jackson at one point, but those days are long gone. Eagles fans burned his jersey in the parking lot before Saturday’s game, and Jackson was quick to rub it in their faces after the Redskins won. The relationship will probably get worse from here.
