Dolphins owner responds to Brian Flores allegations

Brian Flores claims Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross offered to pay him bonus money for losing games two seasons ago, and Ross has responded to the allegations.

Fores filed a lawsuit against the NFL and several teams on Tuesday. The former Dolphins head coach says Ross wanted to tank for a high draft pick in 2019. According to Flores, Ross offered $100,000 per loss and essentially told Flores to stop working so hard.

Flores also claimed Ross pressured him to meet with a prominent quarterback in violation of the NFL’s tampering rules. Ross denied all of the allegations in a statement he issued late Wednesday night

“With regards to the allegations being made by Brian Flores, I am a man of honor and integrity and cannot let them stand without responding,” Ross told multiple media outlets. “I take great personal exception to these malicious attacks, and the truth must be known. His allegations are false, malicious and defamatory. We understand there are media reports stating that the NFL intends to investigate his claims, and we will cooperate fully. I welcome that investigation and I am eager to defend my personal integrity, and the integrity and values of the entire Miami Dolphins organization, from these baseless, unfair and disparaging claims.”

Flores’ camp claims to have proof of Ross making the bonus offer. Ross apparently is not concerned about that.

As Ross mentioned, the NFL intends to investigate the claims. Another former coach has also come forward with a similar story, so the league may need to look into multiple teams.
