Jimbo Fisher welcomes Johnny Manziel to throw at Texas A&M pro day

Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel threw in front of NFL scouts for the first time in quite a while at the University of San Diego’s pro day on Thursday, and he has been invited to do the same with his alma mater next week.

Jimbo Fisher, who is the new head coach at Texas A&M, said Thursday that Manziel is welcome to throw passes to Aggies wide receivers when the team holds its pro day on March 27.

Based on the way Manziel’s session at San Diego went, he might be wise to take Fisher up on his offer. The 25-year-old should be doing everything in his power to convince NFL teams that he is ready to make a comeback, so any exposure he can get helps.

Manziel has been trying to prove to NFL teams that he is serious about a comeback, and he recently opened up about the mistakes he made during his brief pro career. He has an offer from a CFL team, but his goal is obviously to play in the NFL again. That still seems like a long shot, but all it takes is one team to invite him to training camp.
