The Dallas Cowboys have more than enough time to turn their season around and make a postseason push, but one franchise legend does not see it happening.

During FOX’s NFL pregame show on Sunday, Jimmy Johnson said he does not believe the Cowboys will win enough of their remaining games to make the playoffs. Johnson believes things will get better for his former team but that it is already “too late” after a 3-4 start to the season.

“I think they turn it around and they get better when their star players get back on the field, but I think it’s too late for them to win enough games to be in the playoffs,” Johnson said. “I don’t see them making the playoffs this year.”

When asked to give Cowboys fans something to be optimistic about, Johnson simply pointed to the fact that the team is getting healthier and admitted that “stranger things have happened.”

Star pass-rusher Micah Parsons, the Cowboys’ best defensive player, has not played since Week 4 due to an ankle injury. Starting cornerback DaRon Bland has yet to make his 2024 debut because of a foot injury. Both have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Cowboys have only played one game against an NFC East opponent, and it was the New York Giants in Week 4. That means they still have four combined games remaining against the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins. They will also face difficult opponents in the Cincinnati Bengals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Johnson delivered a passionate speech on the air when the Cowboys were getting smoked in the playoffs last season. He has taken a much different tone with this year’s team, and perhaps there is a good reason for that.
