Jimmy Smith calls out Ravens fans for booing Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith was none too pleased with Ravens fans who booed the team during their playoff loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

With nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, Baltimore trailed Los Angeles 23-3. It was around that time the Ravens started to hear boos from those at M&T Bank Stadium. The final score ended up being 23-17 after Baltimore staged a late rally that came up just short.

At one point, boos were directed at rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson and a chant for Joe Flacco broke out. Following the game, Smith called the fans who booed Jackson.

Jackson finished the game with 194 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He completed just 14-of-29 passes while adding 54 yards rushing. Though he struggled for much of the playoff game, Smith thinks the fans need to remember what Jackson did to help get the team to the postseason.

The start of the fourth quarter — if not earlier — presented what many felt was a time for John Harbaugh to make the switch from Jackson to Flacco. The fact that he didn’t shows how committed he and Ravens apparently are to Jackson. While it was a disappointing game for Ravens fans to digest, the future looks bright with Jackson going 6-1 as a starter during the regular season.
