The New Orleans Saints have had a rough couple weeks on the injury front, and the news did not get much better for them on Wednesday.

Saints coach Dennis Allen revealed that wide receiver Rashid Shaheed will undergo meniscus surgery. It is not yet known if Shaheed will require a trim or a full repair, but in the latter case, the procedure would be season-ending.

Shaheed has been in the midst of a breakout season for the Saints. After largely being a deep threat last year, he leads the team in targets with 41 and has 20 catches for 349 yards and three touchdowns so far on the year. He also handles punt return duties for the team, where he has another score, and has even been called upon as a runner for the occasional trick play.

The Saints are already without quarterback Derek Carr due to an oblique injury, and wide receiver Chris Olave has already been ruled out for Week 7 with a concussion. Add in a quick turnaround for a Thursday night game and it looks like the Saints will be very shorthanded against the Denver Broncos.
