Richard Sherman says Jerry Jones has ‘old plantation mentality’

Richard Sherman

Richard Sherman is an outspoken NFL player and knows he would not fit in well on a team owned by Jerry Jones.

Sherman, now in his first season with the San Francisco 49ers, talked with USA Today’s Jarrett Bell from training camp for a story published on Monday. The former Seahawk said he was happy that the NFL and NFLPA are talking about a national anthem policy. But he’s not happy about Jones, who said anyone who plays for his Dallas Cowboys will be required to stand for the anthem.

“The owner of the Dallas Cowboys, with the old plantation mentality,” Sherman said of Jones, via Bell. “What did you expect?”

Sherman has never held back, so it’s no surprise he’s unafraid to share these thoughts on Jones, especially when the Cowboys’ biggest star stood by his owner.

Sherman also said he thinks the NFL’s new helmet policy is “going to be a disaster.” He’s not alone there; the defending Super Bowl champions have several questions as well.
