The New England Patriots dominated the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, with Rob Gronkowski playing the role of Rob Gronkowski to perfection. On former practice squad player Jonas Gray’s fourth rushing touchdown of the night, Gronk blocked a Colts player off the field and into a cameraman.
The block — if you want to call it that — on Sergio Brown drew an unneccessary roughness penalty. Gronkowski followed that up by earning another 15-year penalty for taunting Brown after he manhandled him. But Gronk still happy, Gronk like dance.
When asked about the play after the game, Gronkowski did not disappoint.
“He was just yappin’ at me the whole time,” he said of Brown, per CSNNE.com’s Phil Perry. “So I took him and threw him out of the club.”
Gronk wasn’t done yet. Statistically, it was a quiet game for Gronkowski before his two 15-yard penalties. He changed that in a hurry by scoring a beastly touchdown on New England’s next drive.
With the Denver Broncos having lost to the St. Louis Rams, the Patriots are now two games up on the Colts and one game ahead of the Broncos for the No. 1 seed in the AFC with head-to-head tiebreakers against both teams. If Gronkowski can stay healthy and their defense continues to improve, there’s no reason to believe the Pats will slow down.
