Russell Wilson reveals shocking number of years he still plans to play

Instead of trying to be like Mike, Russell Wilson is trying to be like Tom … Brady, that is.

At his introductory press conference on Wednesday, the Denver Broncos quarterback revealed that he plans to play 10 to 12 more years. Wilson also said that he wants to win three or four Super Bowls in Denver, per James Palmer of NFL Network.

The nine-time Pro Bowler Wilson already has ten NFL seasons under his belt. He is also 33 and will turn 34 in the middle of next season. Playing 10 to 12 more years would take Wilson to the age 44 to 46 range. Even Brady, who is returning for his 23rd season in 2022, is still “only” 44 right now.

Granted, it is not impossible for Wilson, who has proven to be an iron man in the NFL. He sat out three games last season due to a freak finger injury, which marked the first time in Wilson’s career that he missed games. Prior to that, Wilson had a streak of 149 consecutive regular season starts made.

Playing into his mid-40s will definitely still be a rather lofty goal for Wilson to achieve though. But it is actually even less ambitious than the one he laid out for himself a little over a year ago.
