Saquon Barkley may be preparing for his final game with the New York Giants, a reality he reinforced with an admission he made on Wednesday.

Barkley is poised to become a free agent at the end of the season, and his future is unclear. The running back said Wednesday that he is looking for a contract that is “fair and makes sense,” and that he would prefer it come from the Giants. However, he opened the door to it coming from somewhere else.

“I just want something that’s fair and that makes sense. That’s really it,” Barkley said. “If it’s not here, hopefully it’s some other place.”

Barkley and the Giants failed to reach an agreement on a long-term contract last offseason. He wound up signing a one-year deal, though he affirmed that he remains committed to the team and would prefer to stay long-term.

Through 13 games this season, Barkley has 229 carries for 916 yards and four touchdowns. Importantly, he has largely stayed healthy, and will hit free agency at the age of 27 looking for a fairly significant deal.
