Payton is in his 14th season with the Saints, including the one he was suspended for. The 55-year-old has a 119-74 record and a Super Bowl to his name.
It seems like a long time ago when the Saints were plagued by persistent rumors of Payton’s potential departure. About three years ago, there was widespread speculation that both sides were looking elsewhere. Things have changed since — Payton recommitted with a new contract and the organization has become a high-level contender again. Now it seems like he’d be quite happy to be in New Orleans for the rest of his career.
