Tua Tagovailoa’s dangerous helmet-first tackle sent fans into a frenzy

Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa preparing to make a tackle against the Rams

Tua Tagovailoa just cannot seem to avoid putting himself at risk of another head injury.

The Miami Dolphins quarterback went viral on social media Monday for once again getting fans worried about his safety. Tagovailoa attempted to make a dangerous head-first tackle during his team’s Week 10 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.

With the Dolphins leading the Rams 10-0 in the second quarter, Tagovailoa’s pass to Jaylen Waddle was intercepted by Rams linebacker Christian Rozeboom. Tagovailoa stood his ground at the Dolphins’ 17-yard line as Rozeboom chugged along the sideline to gain more yardage. Once Rozeboom got close, Tagovailoa inexplicably got down on all fours for a low tackle that resulted in the Dolphins QB getting kneed in the helmet.

Here’s a slow-motion replay showing Tagovailoa taking a blow to the head.

Fans had mixed reactions about the latest Tua scare. Some expressed legitimate concern for the oft-injured QB.

Others found it as the perfect opportunity to give Tagovailoa the meme treatment for once again putting himself at risk of a head injury.

If it were any other offensive player attempting to make such a tackle, fans may have praised the man for putting his body on the line. But given Tagovailoa’s extensive list of head injuries, it’s no surprise that spectators were alarmed more than anything.
