Twitter reacts to Carolina’s failed two-point conversion attempt
The Carolina Panthers made the rather bold call to go for two points with 1:07 left after scoring a touchdown instead of kicking the game-tying extra point.
Panthers kicker Graham Gano had missed a short field goal and an extra point earlier in the game, and the Panthers seemed to lose faith in him despite the chance to tie the game. Ultimately, Cam Newton overthrew an open receiver in the end zone, and Carolina ended up losing 20-19.
Naturally, a controversial call such as that elicited a lot of reaction on social media.
Panthers obviously having sympathy for the Lions? Cats looking out for Cats? How else do you explain that?

I don't blame Ron Rivera for going for 2 and the win. It's Detroit. Most times they probably convert that. Newton just missed a wide open receiver, partially thanks to Damon Harrison getting his hand up in Newton's way.

The fact that Rivera couldn’t hit an open receiver brought back memories of Maryland’s failed two-point try to win against Ohio State on Saturday.

The loss drops Carolina to 6-4, and they might have to fight for their seemingly secure playoff spot now.
