Nevil Vega Memorial

This site is dedicated to the memory of Nevil Vega, who was a high school teammate and best friend of Larry Brown. The 24-year-old was shot and killed outside a house party in North Hollywood, Calif., on Oct. 15, 2006.

Vega was an accomplished athlete. He won team MVP honors in both baseball and basketball, and was a Los Angeles All-City selection in baseball. After graduating from high school, the talented outfielder played a year of professional baseball in Nicaragua.

Vega was the second-oldest of four children. He spent the first half of his life in Nicaragua, and the second half in Los Angeles.

Nevil’s youthful enthusiasm, impregnable loyalty, and utter enjoyment of life should serve as an inspiration to everyone to enjoy life and pursue their dreams.

The perpetrator in the case is believed to have gang involvement. For this reason, potential witnesses are afraid to speak and no arrests in the case have been made. If you have any information on the case, we encourage you to make an anonymous phone call to the North Hollywood Police Department at 818-623-4016.

Some highlights from Vega’s playing career:

3/30/2000 – Home run and 2 RBIs in win over Canoga Park

4/13/2000 – 2-for-3 with a triple against Poly

3/21/2001 – Doubled twice in win over Canoga Park

Named by LA Times as No. 14 outfielder to watch for 2001 baseball season
