Watch: Caps stars drop F-bombs during team parade

The Washington Capitals’ victory lap continues to be one for the ages.

After winning their first Stanley Cup in franchise history last week, the Caps held their championship parade on Tuesday. The celebration had a few memorable moments, not the least of which was when star center Evgeny Kuznetsov got up to the mic and dropped a couple of expletives.

After thanking family and fans, Kuznetsov concluded his remarks by saying, “Let’s f— this s—.” Here is the video, but obviously beware of foul language.

Not to be outdone, Conn Smythe Trophy winner Alex Ovechkin followed up Kuznetsov’s speech by getting in front of the crowd and dropping some heat of his own. Take a look (but once again, obviously be wary of the bad language):

The Caps have certainly been having the time of their lives since winning the Cup, and their parade antics probably weren’t even the craziest moment yet.

Alex Ovechkin went to bed with the Stanley Cup

Alex Ovechkin interview

Alexander Ovechkin came up short for many years before finally winning his first championship, and there’s no telling when the Washington Capitals star will let the Stanley Cup out of his sight.

Ovechkin and his teammates had themselves quite a day with the Cup on Saturday, as they brought it to Nationals Park and took part in the ceremonial first pitch. After a long day of partying and doing keg stands out of Lord Stanley’s Cup, Ovechkin went to bed with the trophy.

From the look of it, Ovechkin chose to snuggle with the cup over his beautiful wife Nastya. Hopefully he made room for her after snapping the photo, but we wouldn’t bet on it.

The only thing we can really criticize Ovechkin for these days is tossing out one of the worst first pitches you will ever see, but he even found a way to make that right. It’s a great time to be Ovi.

Alex Ovechkin brings Stanley Cup to Nationals game, has a blast

Alex Ovechkin interview

Alex Ovechkin does not appear to have stopped partying since the Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup on Thursday night.

Ovechkin and his Capitals teammates came to the Washington Nationals game on Saturday with the Cup in tow, and nobody seemed to be having a better time than the captain.

First, the Capitals and Nationals took a group picture together with the Cup.

Ovechkin was tasked with throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, but his first attempt went a bit awry, so he demanded a do-over.

Perhaps the best part? Ovechkin, who clearly cannot get enough of the trophy, kept raising it above his head, even during the game while action was taking place.

Ovechkin has waited a long time for this and it has showed in his reactions. Live it up, Ovi.

Alex Ovechkin will throw out the first pitch prior to the Washington Nationals’ game on Saturday.

The Washington Capitals captured their first ever Stanley Cup on Thursday. With that comes the spoils of being a champion. Prior to Saturday’s game between the Nationals and San Francisco Giants, Ovechkin, the Capitals’ captain, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Ovechkin will be accompanied by his Cup-winning teammates.

The next stop for Ovechkin and the Capitals will be a championship parade on Tuesday that was promised by owner Ted Leonsis to be impressive.

Alex Ovechkin, Barry Trotz predicted Stanley Cup win despite 0-2 playoff deficit

Alex Ovechkin interview

The Washington Capitals found themselves in an all too familiar situation just two games into the postseason this year, but their coach insists they never once let doubt creep in.

The Capitals, who had reached the playoffs in 10 of the last 11 years, kicked off their 2018 Stanley Cup run by losing consecutive overtime home games to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Many felt their season was over right then, but head coach Barry Trotz says he and Alex Ovechkin predicted a championship after they fell down 0-2.

Washington had never won a championship in franchise history, and their Stanley Cup title is the first championship for a major DC sports team since 1992. Their fans had been expecting Ovechkin to deliver a Stanley Cup for years, and he finally came through by winning four straight games against the Las Vegas Golden Knights after yet another 0-1 start to a series.

You could tell by Ovechkin’s inappropriate but awesome reaction to Thursday’s win that this was a long time coming. Lesser teams would have never been able to fight back after losing two home games in heartbreaking fashion to begin the playoffs.

Alex Ovechkin tells Caps fans to ‘get some beers’ to celebrate

Alex Ovechkin interview

Now that the business part has been taken care of, Alex Ovechkin is moving on to the partying.

Ovechkin had some advice for Washington Capitals fans after his team won their first Stanley Cup in franchise history Thursday night. The Capitals captain was interviewed by SportsNet and asked what he would say to Caps fans.

He told them to “get some beers” and start celebrating.

You gotta love Ovechkin. This was his moment and he owned it. Fans also appreciated his inappropriate but awesome reaction to winning the Cup.

Alex Ovechkin finally won his first Stanley Cup, and his awesome reaction was noted by many.

As his Washington Capitals won the Cup by beating the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in Game 5 of the Cup Finals, NBC cameras showed Ovechkin blurt out “Oh my f—ing god!”

The Capitals’ captain was going nuts after winning and celebrated with all his teammates.

He’s waited over a decade for this moment. It was all well-earned and very well-deserved.

Watch: Marc-Andre Fleury slashes Alex Ovechkin in pregame

Fleury Ovechkin

You could tell the stakes were even higher for Thursday’s Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Before things got started at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin decided to mess with Golden Knights goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. Ovechkin skated right by the opposing goalie.

Fleury decided to respond by slashing Ovechkin in the shin:

The two players go way back to Fleury’s time in Pittsburgh. While we won’t say something silly like they deserve penalties for the pregame actions, it’s pretty clear that they’re trying to get in one another’s heads.

Alex Ovechkin: Caps treating every game like it’s their last

Alex Ovechkin

Alex Ovechkin says that the Washington Capitals are playing with a lot of desperation, and that’s been a big reason for their recent success in the postseason.

The Caps beat the Vegas Golden Knights 6-2 in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday night to take a 3-1 series lead. They’ve now won three in a row since dropping the Cup opener in Vegas and are a win away from their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

“I think we just play smart, managed the puck well, and the defense was great. For us right now, it’s like every game is the last game,” Ovechkin said after Game 4.

Ovechkin was also asked about James Neal missing a wide open net on a shot that could have given Vegas a 1-0 lead. Instead, he missed and the Caps rattled off three first period goals.

“Sometimes it’s just luck, sometimes you just need that kind of bounce,” he said.

Maybe it’s a combination of desperation and luck, but everything is going the Caps’ way.

After being one of the best players in the league for years and failing to come through in the postseason, Ovechkin is on his way to changing his legacy. The Caps just better not change their mentality.

Capitals coach praises Alex Ovechkin for ‘imposing his will’ during playoffs

Alex Ovechkin

Alex Ovechkin is two wins away from winning his first Stanley Cup, and in the eyes of his head coach, it couldn’t be more deserved.

Ovechkin turned in another exemplary performance during Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Saturday evening, scoring his 14th goal from the playoffs and counting himself unlucky not to score more. Coach Barry Trotz praised his playoff run after the game in the highest possible terms.

Trotz is likely right. Ovechkin has been on so many Capitals teams that failed in the playoffs and he seems more driven than ever to ensure that it doesn’t happen again this season. He’s obviously one of the best players of his generation, but he’s playing with incredible intensity and such confidence that he wasn’t even put off by touching the Prince of Wales Trophy.
