Robert Griffin III makes ‘Pop Rocks and Tootsie Pops’ music video

Robert Griffin III got married to college girlfriend Rebecca Liddicoat on Saturday night in Denver, and he decided to celebrate by sharing a hilarious music video on his Facebook page.

Griffin posted the music video seen above to his Facebook page on Sunday, saying “Check out the first official video release of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Griffin III.”

The song is called “Pop Rocks and Tootsie Pops” and it was created by “Candy Shop Producers.” As noted by Dan Steinberg, the video was actually posted to YouTube in March, but it only had just over 1,000 views. Maybe RG3 decided that now was the time to take “Pop Rocks and Tootsie Pops” global.

The song admittedly has a really catchy hook. RG3 is seen wearing a mask and beanie on his head, and he has a tie over his adidas sweatshirt. His wife and another girl, whom we believe is Rebecca’s sister, Lindsey, appear to be the backup dancers. They both have headphones around their neck and sunglasses on their face. Throughout the song, they talk about two outstanding candies that almost everyone loves — Pop Rocks and Tootsie Pops.

RG3 talked about the video on Twitter and called it “good clean fun”:

Tony Allen absolutely butchers ‘This is how we do it’ on karaoke (Video)

Tony Allen karaokeTony Allen’s heart was in the right place when he held a karaoke fundraiser on Tuesday, but his singing skills were on a different planet.

The Grizzlies guard held his “Tony Allen Karaoke Night” at the Kroc Center in Memphis Tuesday to benefit the Juvenile Intervention and Faith-Based Follow-Up. Allen met with fans, signed autographs, and, of course, he sang karaoke.

And, boy, was he terrible.

Allen attempted to sing the 1990s Montell Jordan hit song “This is how we do it,” but he stumbled his way through most of the song and didn’t really know the words. Keep in mind, this is a song with more simplistic lyrics than Aldous Snow’s “African Child.” At least Allen got the chorus right … some of the time.

At about the 1:40 mark, he completely loses his way with the song. Even Brennan Huff was better singing it.

In the video below, he sings “Rock with u,” and he does much better. Even though we’re giving him a hard time for his performance on the Montell Jordan song, what really matters is that his heart was in the right place with the fundraiser.

Birdman, Mike Miller sing ‘Ice, Ice Baby’ at Miami Heat karaoke (Video)

birdman mike millerIf you could have picked one song for Miami Heat players Chris “Birdman” Andersen and Mike Miller to perform at karaoke, Vanilla Ice’s “Ice, Ice Baby” would have been it, right? Birdman totally has the Vanilla Ice persona down perfectly. He’s got the tats, the attitude, and the skin color. And he and Miller knew the song perfectly.

Personally, I prefer Derek Huff’s rendition of “Ice, Ice Baby” at the Great Valley Senior High talent show, but this wasn’t bad.

According to Hot Hot Hoops’ Surya Fernandez, the karaoke competition occurred at Shane Battier’s “Battioke 2013” at the Eden Roc Hotel in South Beach. Below is video of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade rocking out with a duet:

Sample of Serena Williams’ new rap song surfaces (Audio)

Serena Williams may be one of the best female tennis players of all time, but that’s not the only thing she can do. Apparently, Serena can also drop a beat. According to TMZ, Williams had some fun laying down a couple of rap tracks last year at a studio called B Major Music Group in Florida. The studio is owned by Ravens offensive lineman Bryant McKinnie, who is apparently close friends with the Williams sisters. Fortunately for all of us, a sample of one of the songs has surfaced.

As you heard, Serena kind of almost pulls it off. The lyrics are catchy enough, but for some reason she just sounds unnatural to me. Maybe because I’m picturing her with a racket in-hand while spitting rhymes? That could be it. I did, however, pick out a favorite line from the one-minute sample:

“I cook the track up like a frozen pizza.”

All you DiGiorno guys or gals know exactly what I’m talking about. If Serena was serious with what she recently said about her personal life, maybe that will give her more time to work on releasing a rap album.

She also seemed upset about the word getting out regarding her rapping career. Check out what she tweeted early Friday morning, hours after TMZ published their story:

This isn’t Serena’s foray into music; remember her karaoke performance? The only question is if she’s a better singer or rapper.

LeBron James wears wig, sings Rick James’ ‘Super Freak’ (Video)

Pat Riley wasn’t the only one singing at Shane Battier’s charity karaoke event Tuesday in Miami — LeBron James got down with his bad self too. LeBron donned a wig and sang Rick James’ “Super Freak” for the people in attendance, and did so enthusiastically. He kind of butchered the lyrics, but we give him solid marks for his effort.

Even though the video is making the rounds on the internet, hopefully James won’t be embarrassed. Goofing around like this is great for his scrutinized public image.

Kyle O’Quinn sings ‘One Shining Moment’ (Video)

As if upsetting No. 2 seed Missouri didn’t already endear Norfolk State center Kyle O’Quinn enough to fans, singing the lyrics to “One Shining Moment” sure did. During an interview that played on CBS Saturday, Greg Gumbel asked O’Quinn if it was true he knew the lyrics to the song. O’Quinn said he knew the beginning of the song, and he showed us.

O’Quinn may not be on the court when the song is played following the championship game, but he and his team sure will be part of the video after what they did on Friday.

Yikes! Lamar Odom is an awful singer (Video)

Lamar Odom may be 6’10” and outrageously talented as a basketball player, but one skill he is lacking is the ability to sing. In this video posted by the Dallas Mavericks’ official YouTube account (by way of I am a GM), Odom sings ABC by The Jackson 5. He’s so off-tune it would have been difficult to know what he was singing if he didn’t tell us. One thing we know is that he didn’t lock down Khloe with his crooning.
