Fans go crazy over Orioles’ mystery dugout drink

Orioles drink

During Monday’s game between the Orioles and Rays, a couple of Orioles players sent fans frantically to Google in search of the answer to a question many were asking.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Adam Jones broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run home run to give Baltimore the lead. Shortly after, cameras in the dugout caught Jones and Jonathan Schoop each drinking a beverage in a green bottle.

What was inside was unknown to at least these few people, and probably more.

Bill Cowher booed by Orioles fans at Camden Yards

Baltimore fans showed no mercy for one of their rivals on Friday.

Former longtime Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher was in attendance for Friday’s Orioles-Yankees game at Camden Yards, and he even sported an Orioles cap to show his allegiance. But that wasn’t enough to win over the passionate crowd.

According to many in attendance, Cowher was still booed when shown on the video board:

Cowher hasn’t coached in the NFL since the 2006 season, but that hardly matters to O’s fans. The former Super Bowl-winning coach represents the enemy, the evil Steelers. You can figure almost all of the fans cheering on the Orioles are also Ravens fans, so that means despising anything, everything, and anyone associated with the hated Steelers. And you already knew how intense that rivalry is based on the comments from Terrell Suggs.

Adam Jones smashes pies in fans’ faces after Orioles clinch division (Video)

The Baltimore Orioles — yes, the Baltimore Orioles — clinched their first AL East division title in 17 years on Tuesday night with an 8-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. The O’s haven’t exactly had the best attendance all season (14th in the MLB with a ballpark that is 66% full on average), but Adam Jones didn’t hold that against the fans who stuck around celebrate with the team.

Jones incorporated several fans into the popular pie-to-the-face celebration ritual. The star center fielder smashed several Orioles fans with pies and gave them a moment they’ll remember forever.

Baseball players love to celebrate after a long season, and we have seen teams shower fans in champagne and beer on several occasions. Jones’ approach was refreshingly original.

Orioles Fan Catches Three Foul Balls in Same Game

I’ve probably been to 50 or so MLB games in my life and never once caught a foul ball. This glove-toting chump of a fan shows up to an O’s-Mariners game and somehow manages to pull down three all in the same darn game. Three. We’re talking about three balls. Not one. Not two. But three. THREE!!!

I know the guy loses style points for bringing his glove to the game … and it’s probably easier because there are less fans in Baltimore compared to an Angels or Dodgers game for me, but still, that’s impressive no matter how you look at it.

Think about it, foul balls are probably the best souvenir possible; you earn them without purchasing them, it gives you a great story, and you never forget how you got it. It’s probably like a battle wound or scar for folks lucky enough to pull down one of those treasured pearls. Or at least that’s how I’ve always imagined it would be. Catching a foul ball is something I’ve always wanted to do, but like a pitcher during a no-hitter, you don’t want to think about it when you’re at the actual game so you don’t jinx it. Seriously, it’s almost as important as my team actually winning the game.

Sadly I’ve never had the chance to feel the joy of having those 216 game-used stitches in my hand, yet this dude gets three in the same game. Jimmy Traina at SI Hot Clicks had the story, and if you click through you can see the video.
