Details revealed from Ex-Raider Damon Arnette’s arrest

Damon Arnette was arrested on Friday just days after being signed by the Kansas City Chiefs, and it would not be a surprise if the former first-round pick has played his last snap in the NFL.

Arnette was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, carrying or concealing a gun without a permit, and marijuana possession following an alleged incident in Las Vegas. A witness claims to have seen the cornerback pointing a gun at a valet.

TMZ on Thursday shared more details from the police report. Las Vegas Metro Police say they received a call about a man allegedly pulling a gun on a valet at the Park MGM resort. The employee said he was told to retrieve a black Mercedes, but Arnette said he had lost the ticket after the car was delivered. Arnette allegedly became furious and told the valet to “give me my motherf—ing keys!” The employee said he heard the sound of a gun being cocked and looked up to see Arnette pointing a gun at him.

Arnette was given the keys and left, and police pulled him over after locating him. The 25-year-old was carrying one gun and had another next to where he was seated. Police say the incident was captured on surveillance footage.

Arnette, the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, began the season with the Las Vegas Raiders. He was released in November after broadcasting a threatening video on social media. Reports at the time indicated Arnette had long exhibited a pattern of troubling behavior.

The Chiefs signed Arnette last month despite his numerous issues, but they released him following the arrest.

Cornerback Damon Arnette faces further legal trouble after being arrested overnight Friday on drug and gun charges.

Arnette was booked early Saturday on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, carrying or concealing a gun without a permit, possession of marijuana or cannabis and possession of a class one or two level controlled substance, as first reported by Sabrina Schnur of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The arrest came about as the result of a report of a person with a gun at Park MGM.

A witness alleged to TMZ Sports that Arnette threatened a valet with a gun after attempting to retrieve a car without a valet ticket.

The Kansas City Chiefs, who signed Arnette to a reserve/futures contract nine days ago, immediately released the 25-year-old cornerback.

Arnette started the season with the Las Vegas Raiders, but he was released in November after broadcasting a threatening video on social media. After his release, reports indicated that Arnette had long exhibited a pattern of troubling behavior.

Arnette was the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. His NFL career may be on its last legs after this most recent incident.

Report: Damon Arnette had troubling issues with rental cars

Damon Arnette was cut by the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday, and stories are now trickling out about all the off-field issues the former first-round pick had. One of them — or should we say several of them — involved rental cars.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media noted that there were several troubling signs for Arnette during his first year with the Raiders. For example, Arnette somehow managed to crash four rental cars in a one-month span.

Raiders coaches and officials had to have been concerned about that. While we don’t know the details of the alleged accidents, it seems impossible that someone would simply be that unlucky.

Arnette had some extremely troubling posts on social media last week, and it appears those were the final straw for the former Ohio State star. He was also recently sued by a woman over an alleged hit-and-run.

The Raiders had two first-round picks last year, and both have now been cut. They also parted ways with Henry Ruggs after the star wide receiver was responsible for a horrifying car accident that killed another driver last week.

Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette has generated some negative headlines over the past week, and the team is moving on from the former first-round pick.

The Raiders informed Arnette on Monday that they are cutting him, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The move comes days after Arnette went on Instagram live and threatened to kill someone while waving multiple guns around.

Arnette appeared to be threatening someone he had an argument with on social media. You can see the video here, but beware that it contains inappropriate language.

There were also screenshots of direct messages that Arnette allegedly sent to someone that contained homophobic language and racial slurs.

Arnette was drafted by the Raiders with the 19th overall pick in 2020. The former Ohio State star was also in the news recently after a woman filed a lawsuit against him over an alleged hit-and-run.

Raiders CB Damon Arnette sued over alleged hit-and-run

Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette was involved in a car accident roughly a year ago, and he is now being sued over the incident.

According to KSNV’s Matthew Seeman, a lawsuit that was filed last month accuses Arnette of leaving the scene after he hit another car and caused serious injuries to the other driver. The accident reportedly took place on Oct. 14, 2020.

Yaneth Casique, the driver of the other vehicle, says in the complaint that Arnette was traveling at least 65 mph on St. Rose Parkway in Las Vegas when he lost control of his car and crashed into hers, which was stopped at an intersection. Casique says Arnette explained that he was speeding “to avoid being late for a meeting he was to attend” at the Raiders’ facility, which was roughly a block from the accident.

The lawsuit states that Arnette left the scene and that his passenger tried to say he was driving the vehicle, not Arnette.

“Later defendant Damon Arnette was located and confronted at Raiders Headquarters when he admitted he was the operator of the vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the vehicle operated by plaintiff Yaneth Coromoto Casique,” the suit states.

The lawsuit also names the Raiders as defendants, claiming Arnette was “acting within the scope of employment.”

Arnette was charged with failure to maintain a lane and duty to stop at an accident, according to court records. He pleaded guilty and paid $1,640 in fines for the two misdemeanors.

Casique says she hit her head in the accident and lost consciousness. She states that she has suffered from headaches, balance impairment, memory loss and other symptoms since the crash. She is seeking damages for medical expenses, loss of income, property damage, attorney’s fees and general damages. Casique says she has medical bills that total nearly $100,000.

The lawsuit against Arnette was filed last month. The Raiders have since dealt with more negative publicity with Henry Ruggs’ deadly crash, for which he is facing numerous felony charges. Arnette, like Ruggs, was drafted by the Raiders in the first round last year.

Raiders rookie Damon Arnette has fractured thumb

Las Vegas Raiders rookie Damon Arnette is dealing with some poor injury fortune.

The first-round draft pick suffered a fracture in his thumb recently and is in a soft cast, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Arnette was taken No. 19 overall by the Raiders out of Ohio State. The cornerback signed a four-year, $13.4 million contract in July and was expected to be a Week 1 starter, which was made clear by the release of Prince Amukamara.

Arnette was likely to start at right cornerback and Trayvon Mullen at left cornerback. Keisean Nixon might be next man up if Arnette misses any time during the regular season. Isaiah Johnson could also be an option at the position.
