When Katherine Webb gained national fame after ESPN’s Brent Musburger drooled over her during the BCS National Championship Game, Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett was one of the first people to hit on her. Dockett tweeted his phone number at Webb and claimed it was supposed to be a direct message. Now, he says it was all just a joke.
During an interview with Bickley and MJ on XTRA Sports 910 in Phoenix on Wednesday, Dockett insisted he would have gotten Webb if he actually wanted her. The problem is she’s not his type. Wait until you hear what is.
“It’s not that serious,” Dockett explained, via Sports Radio Interviews. “I was just laughing at people responding because people were really thinking that I was gonna put my number on Twitter. … Anybody that knows Darnell Dockett — the real me, not just the football player, not just the guy you see on TV — anyone that knows me personally knows there is never a dull moment in my life. I’m always excited. I’m always thinking of the next gimmick, the next trick.
“And I would have got her if I really wanted her. But I don’t think she’s my type. I’m not into the thinner girls and the modelling thing like that. I like hood chicks. I like girls with a couple stab wounds, bullet holes, been knocked up a few times. … I like girls who, you know, have bad credit when they’re 21.”
This guy never runs out. He also added that he simply wanted to take Webb out to see a few strippers and show her the world outside of Alabama so she can “appreciate what she’s doing.” As we said before, Dockett loves to mess with people. He recently had a field day with all the Manti Te’o stuff, so it’s no surprise that he had to get himself involved when Webb became a nationally-recognized star.
Don’t worry, AJ McCarron — you’re safe for now. Dockett doesn’t want your girl.
Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Darnell Dockett has always been one to speak his mind or, should we say, tweet his mind. As we learned when he hit on AJ McCarron’s gilfriend over Twitter last week, the 31-year-old loves throwing his two cents in when it comes to stories that have the country buzzing.
On Thursday, Dockett decided to weigh in on the Manti Te’o fake girlfriend saga by sending the following tweet to the Notre Dame linebacker:
As Deadspin pointed out, “KOD” is an acronym for the King of Diamonds strip club. I don’t think midgets have anything to do with the current story, unless there are even more weird details that I missed. Then again, we have to remember who we are dealing with. This is the same guy who sent an explicit tweet about how he needed some loving the day after Christmas, so Dockett is known to fly off the handle and say ridiculous things.
That wasn’t all Dockett had to say. He also took some time to heckle former teammate Reagan Mauia about his bizarre involvement with the story.
Darnell Dockett was among the millions of viewers infatuated with A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend during the BCS National Championship Game on Monday. The Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman even attempted to hit on Katherine Webb via Twitter, inviting her to go to Wing Stop and King of Diamonds:
Dockett then claimed he accidentally tweeted his phone number in what he intended to be a direct message to her:
It has been a long and grueling season for Darnell Dockett and the rest of the Arizona Cardinals. For many of the team’s players, Christmas likely served as a welcome distraction from a season in which they have lost 10 out of their last 11 games. Dockett, on the other hand, seemed like he was a bit lonely during the holiday season.
On Christmas night, Dockett took to Twitter to vent about a couple of things that were on his mind. His thoughts probably would have been best if left unsaid.
The Cardinals defensive tackle has been known to tweet at some pretty inappropriate times, but this string of thoughts was — shall we say — uncomfortable. On the bright side, at least he wasn’t spitting in people’s faces. That’s always a plus.

Following the Arizona Cardinals’ loss to the New York Jets on Sunday, it was confirmed that there was an on-field incident between Cardinals linebacker Darnell Dockett and safety Kerry Rhodes that will likely lead to disciplinary action. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said the team was not going to discuss the matter publicly, but some of the dirty details emerged on Monday night.
A source with knowledge of what occurred reportedly told Pro Football Talk that Dockett spat in Rhodes’ face while the two were having a disagreement. With the Jets leading 7-6 late in the fourth quarter, the Cardinals were planning to allow New York to score to make it a 14-6 game and give themselves a chance to get the ball back, score a touchdown, convert a two-point conversion and send the game to overtime.
However, Dockett reportedly had no interest in allowing the Jets to score. This led to Rhodes trying to convince him buy in, which in turn led to the alleged loogie.
We have heard of players spitting in opponents faces during games before, but this is a first for it happening among teammates. Based on some of the stuff Rex Ryan has said about Rhodes in the past, you can understand how someone might get frustrated with him. But in this situation it sounds like Dockett was the one being difficult. If the story is true the team should suspend him.
The soon-to-be most sought-after free agent in NFL history is officially on the market. Now that the Colts have officially given Peyton Manning his release, several teams around the league are undoubtedly crunching numbers and shuffling their rosters to try to make room for the Hall of Famer. One potential landing destination for Manning is Arizona, and defensive tackle Darnell Dockett is on the recruiting trail.
“We are a team that is a few pieces away from getting back to the big game,” Dockett said during a call to the NFL Network. “We got a perfect fit for him in Arizona. He can get his number and I’ll get him parking passes, free doughnuts on Saturdays. I’ll make sure my guys clean his cleats up real well. I’ll give him all my connections, even my barber.
“He’d get to play in a dome, the weather’s nice for him, our coaching staff is tremendous … we’re a few pieces away from getting back into the playoffs and doing big things. He’d have arguably the best wide receiver in the game in Larry Fitzgerald, two good running backs, a proven defense. I mean, why not?”
Players from the various suitors will all be stating their cases over the next few days, but Dockett has the bidding off to a solid start. How can you say no to free donuts and parking? Arriving at the stadium with a donut in hand and not a care in the world about where you park is huge for a franchise quarterback. Not to mention, Dockett is right about being able to play with one of the best receivers in the game. Your move, Miami, Seattle, Kansas City, Houston, Washington, and New York.
Teams and players were all about commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11 on the first Sunday of the NFL season. We had players like Lance Briggs wear 9/11 tribute shoes. Then we had guys like Darnell Dockett and Antonio Garay who wore their American pride in their hair. Dockett shaved the American flag into his head — stars on one side, stripes on the other (click each picture twice to enlarge):
Chargers defensive tackle Antonio Garay, who is known for putting crazy designs in his hair, may have one-upped Dockett with an outline of the New York skyline.
The color was out of Garay’s hair for the game, but it still was pretty slick. So what do you think, who had the better ‘do? I’ll give the nod to Dockett since his hair was a little cleaner.
And it sure looks like Tracy Porter has some competition for the most creative hair in the NFL.

Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Darnell Dockett is a wacky dude. He’s big into sharing his life on social media and he’s pretty funny. Last week he actually live-tweeted a run-in with the police during a traffic stop and got public sympathy on his side. Now he’s one-upped that incident: he’s bought himself a pet alligator named Nino, as he wrote on his twitter.
Just before sharing the picture of his pet gator, he tweeted that he was in the everglades messing around with the reptiles. Now I’m wondering if he bought the gator or really just caught it. Hmmm
Alright, it’s time to poll the audience: Who had the better pet, Dockett, Chad Ochocinco, or Carmelo Anthony?

Arizona Cardinals DT Darnell Dockett is one of the most humorous athletes on twitter. All you have to do is check his inappropriate twitter bio to know what kind of goofball he is. He’s like the Howard Stern of athletes on twitter — no holding back, all subjects are fair game. That even includes confrontations with police when he’s pulled over.
Dockett was pulled over Monday afternoon and began tweeting about the incident, as we learned from Pro Football Talk. Here’s what he wrote in a series of tweets (edited to block out profanity):
