LeBron James and Delonte West Hug (Video)

Remember those rumors about Delonte West banging LeBron James’ mom?  It appears there are two possibilities now with regard to that: either it never happened, or LeBron doesn’t care.  Check out the LeBron James and Delonte West hug, courtesy of Jose3030:

Maybe LeBron was just overjoyed that he finally beat the Celtics. As much as it pains me to say it, he should be. His two three pointers and steal/dunk in the final minutes single-handedly crushed any hope Boston had of a series comeback. Word on Twitter is LeBron whispered, “I love you, Dad” in Delonte’s ear during the hug. Somehow I have trouble believing that. Never know.

Delonte West and Von Wafer Involved in Fight After Celtics Practice

Delonte West is sitting on a non-guaranteed contract with the Boston Celtics at the moment, so it’s probably not a good idea for him to be drawing negative attention to himself.  After getting into a fight with Von Wafer — another Celtics guard — it looks like that’s exactly what West has done.

Pro Basketball Talk is reporting, via Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld, that some rough play on the court during practice carried over into the locker and punches were exchanged.  According to an Adrian Wojnarowski tweet, West believed Wafer was responsible for a quote that was in the Boston papers from an anonymous source who had said it was “obvious” when West hadn’t taken his medication (he takes medication for bi-polar disorder).

Kennedy claims West was fouling Wafer every time he touched the ball during a three-on-three game in practice.  Delonte got rougher and rougher with his play and Wafer apparently had had enough, so he exited to the locker room.  Wafer showered after practice and sat down, and that’s when West came up to him and sucker punched him.  Wafer threw two punches back at West before teammates came in and broke the scrum up.

Obviously this wasn’t your typical argument among teammates if West decided to carry it over into the locker room well after the initial incident occurred.  As Kennedy added, West is already serving a 10-game suspension and Danny Ainge is reportedly growing tired of his antics.  The Celtics certainly have enough depth that they could afford to let him go, so that might be the next step.  It doesn’t appear West is that happy in Boston, anyway.

Celtics Fans Will Be Sporting Delonte West Masks at Heat Game Tonight

Rather than make a run at the big name free agents this past NBA off-season, the Celtics decided to focus on retaining their own players and bolstering their bench for one last title run with the Big Three.  One of the pieces they brought in to beef up their back court is none other than Delonte West, a former teammate of LeBron James.  Not just any teammate, however.

During last year’s playoffs, there was rampant speculation from Cleveland that West was having an affair with LeBron’s mom.  Some even believe it caused James to lose focus during the Cavs-Celtics series.  I’m sure this isn’t the first you’re hearing of the messed up situation, and it certainly won’t be the last.

Unsurprisingly, Boston fans will be playing the story up when the Heat take the court at the TD Garden tonight for one of the most highly anticipated season openers in the history of professional sports.  Listeners of 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher and Rich Show who are going to the game Tuesday night have been encouraged to log on to 985thesportshub.com and print out a Delonte West mask.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a pretty clever joke.  But wouldn’t you think this would distract West more than LeBron?  If you can distract King James even a tiny bit it’s definitely worth it, but I wouldn’t want to be coming into a game off the bench and see thousands of my own face staring at me when I’m trying to play.  Hey, that’s just me.  If Delonte enjoys looking in the mirror, he could be in for a career game.

Cavs Trading Delonte West? Hmm

Six weeks ago it was said the Cavs were looking at potentially extending the contract of guard Delonte West. Now the Cleveland Plain Dealer is saying the Cavs are looking to trade him. What could have possibly changed in between? Initially I brushed aside baseless, unsubstantiated rumors such as the one suggested about Delonte West shortly after the Cavs lost to the Celtics. Now though, more and more the pieces are starting to come together making it seem like the ridiculous rumor could be true.

The first hint that the absurd rumor could be true was when Hall of Famer Calvin Murphy said it was “absolutely true.” West’s glaring drop in minutes against the Celtics — from playing 20-30 minutes a game every playoff game to just nine and 14 minutes in Games 5 and 6 — seemed quite strange. People can argue that the Cavs might want to get rid of West because of his pending weapons charges. I understand that could be a factor but the Cavs knew what West was facing back when they were talking about extending him. Plus, with the Cavs trying to keep LeBron, wouldn’t they try and surround him with as much talent as possible rather than get rid of it?

The last nugget that really makes me question things came in Jack McCallum’s column at SI on Friday. Comparing Kobe to LeBron in the playoffs, here’s what McCallum wrote about LBJ against the Celtics:
