Nuggets reportedly trade Emmanuel Mudiay to Knicks

Emmanuel Mudiay

The Denver Nuggets have reportedly traded Emmanuel Mudiay to the New York Knicks as part of a three-team trade.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Mudiay is heading to the Knicks with fellow point guard Devin Harris going to Denver. The third team, the Dallas Mavericks, are getting Doug McDermott.

The Nuggets will also get a future second-round pick in the deal, according to Woj.

Mudiay, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2015 draft, had been discussed as a possible piece of a trade that would bring Boston Celtics point guard Marcus Smart to the Nuggets, but that obviously never materialized.

Steph Curry consoles Devin Harris’ nephew, who lost father in car accident

Steph Curry spent some time consoling the nephew of Devin Harris prior to Monday’s Golden State Warriors-Dallas Mavericks game.

Harris, a veteran guard for the Mavs, lost his brother last week in a car accident. Harris on Monday made his first appearance at American Airlines Center since his brother died. He was accompanied by his nine-year-old nephew, Brayden, whose father died.

The two visited with some players from both teams. Curry spent some time with the young boy, which was caught on camera.

“I lost my brother tragically and it’s been a tough week,” Harris said to the media via the Dallas Morning News. “The family is taking it pretty hard, as you would expect them to. Probably the toughest thing I’ve had to deal with, dealing with myself, trying to explain it to his kids, my kids – it’s just been tough.

“I came to spend some time with my nephew to try to get his mind off of it.”

Harris has been granted an indefinite leave of absence as he copes with the tragic news.

Devin Harris Ejected for Tackling Blake Griffin, Clippers Still Lose

Just how bad are the Clippers? They’re so bad an opposing team can lose its best player early in the game and still beat them on the road. Yup, the Clippers dropped to 1-10 and lost their sixth straight game falling at home to the Nets 110-96. New Jersey got the win despite point guard Devin Harris getting ejected in the second quarter for tackling forward Blake Griffin.

Griffin broken free in the open court following a turnover and had an easy dunk in front of him. Harris came from behind to deny the easy deuce but wound up being assessed a flagrant 2 foul and getting ejected.

Nets talking puppet head coach Avery Johnson said Devin Harris wasn’t looking to hurt Griffin but he just didn’t want to give up the easy layup. I would agree with that assessment. So did Griffin, who said after the game he could tell there was no malicious intent behind the move.

The Nets didn’t need Harris because Jordan Farmar came on and dished out 12 assists while the team shot 60% from the field. The Clippers hovered slightly below 40% with Eric Bledsoe and Eric Gordon combining to shoot just 33%. They may challenge the Timberwolves for the dubious distinction of worst team in the league.

Carmelo Anthony Rumored Trade Analysis

Nuggets superstar Carmelo Anthony wants out of Denver and has been pushing for a trade for the past few months. Multiple news outlets are reporting there is a four-way trade on the horizon that could send Melo to New Jersey. The teams involved in the potential trade include the Nuggets, Nets, Bobcats, and Jazz. Here is some analysis on the potential four-way deal.

Nets: Receive Carmelo Anthony, one of the top players in the league, and easily the centerpiece of the deal. Nets want him to agree to a contract extension before giving away assets to get him. He would team with Brook Lopez and prepare for the team’s eventual move to Brooklyn, New York. They would have to give up point guard Devin Harris, first-round pick Derrick Favors, and first-round picks in 2011 and 2012. It would be worthwhile — players like Melo are extremely difficult to come by. Thin at the point guard spot, the Nets also want D.J. Augustin from Charlotte but the Bobcats reportedly are reluctant to include him in the deal.

Nuggets: Get Derrick Favors from the Nets, Andrei Kirilenko from the Jazz, and first-round picks in 2011 and 2012. While AK47 has talent and is strong defensively, he is injured frequently and is limited offensively. Favors was selected highly but I didn’t see enough out of him in college to believe he’ll be much of an offensive force in the pros. He could be a good rebounder and defensive player. This trade would be the beginning of the end of Denver’s successful run.

Bobcats: They would receive PG Devin Harris from New Jersey and give up Boris Diaw. Charlotte fans would have to love the dynamic scoring ability Harris could bring to the club. They’d be reluctant to part with Augustin, but he doesn’t stack up well with Harris who is a superior player. Still, the two-for-one might be more than Charlotte wants to surrender for an injury prone point guard. If Augustin were included in a trade, they would probably receive a trade exception because the salaries don’t match up.

Jazz: They wouldn’t have to pay the final year of AK47’s monster deal in which he receives $17 million. In exchange, they get Boris Diaw and the $18 million he is owed the next two years. Quinton Ross has been mentioned as a throw-in from the Nets, although he could also go to Denver.

If the Sixers Miss the Playoffs by a Game

We’ll know exactly who to blame. Devin Harris will now be known to basketball fans for something other than getting schooled on the playground by a guy wearing a v-neck sweater.

All I have to say is wow. This really shouldn’t be too surprising anymore considering how good players are getting at half-court shots, but doing it in shoot-around is so much different from connecting in the last second of a game. Wow. Oh yeah, and Philly doesn’t exactly have a strangle-hold on a playoff birth right now, either.

Devin Harris Schooled by V-Neck Sweater

This is easily one of my favorite videos on YouTube. The title tells the story. Enjoy.

So that was NBA player and soon to be All-Star point guard for the Nets, Devin Harris, getting balled up by a no-name kid from the U.K. — Stuart Tanner. Big ups to SpinMax for passing along the vid that’s already made it’s rounds on ESPN and past 3 million views according to YouTube. Now there is some background on the video provided by Stuart’s brother, Greg Tanner.
