Jason Day was forced to withdraw from the Arnold Palmer Invitational last month because of a back injury, and it appears the ailment became an issue for him once again at the Masters on Thursday.
Day needed medical attention on the second hole of the first round at Augusta National, and ESPN reported that he was heard saying “oh, my back” after picking up his daughter before the round started.

This isn’t the first time we have seen Day hampered by an injury during a major championship, and it’s a shame to see another one so early in the Masters. Hopefully he’s able to work through it and keep playing.
Jason Day’s shoes were all the rage at Memorial on Thursday in Dublin, Ohio.
The Australian born golfer was wearing Cleveland Cavaliers-colored shoes at the tournament in advance of Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Day may have been born in Australia, but his wife, Ellie, is from Columbus and a fan of the local teams, such as the Blue Jackets and Cavs. Day has become a fan of the teams as well.
Day shared a photo of the shoes on Instagram Wednesday, also tagging Cavs player JR Smith, who enjoys golfing:

Here’s a closer look at the Nike shoes, made by Nomad Customs:
Day’s association with the Cavs was already pretty well known, but now that’s grown even more. Most remember when two seasons ago, his wife was sent to the hospital after LeBron James collided with her. This is a much better tie to the team.

Jason Day let it slip out on Wednesday that Rickie Fowler has a girlfriend, essentially confirming the speculation that began over the weekend.
Fowler and Allison Stokke, a pole vaulter who became a viral sensation (against her wishes) in the early days of sports blogs, both shared photos on Instagram over the weekend where they looked to be a couple (photos here). That led to great immediate speculation that the two were dating.
Day was speaking Wednesday at the Zubich Classic and dropped the news.

“I was explaining it last night. We had a team meeting without Rickie there. He was busy with his beautiful girlfriend, which is understandable,” said Day.
Fowler looked embarrassed after Day’s reveal, as he took off his cap and covered his face with it.
Now that Fowler, 28, has a girlfriend, at least he won’t have to worry about taking anymore funny photos like this one.

Nike recently made the somewhat surprising announcement that it will no longer be manufacturing golf clubs and equipment, but that does not mean the apparel juggernaut is bowing out when it comes to shoes and clothing.
ESPN’s Darren Rovell reported on Tuesday that Nike has signed world No. 1 golfer Jason Day to an endorsement deal. Day will reportedly be paid more than $10 million per year to wear Nike apparel on the course.
Like many other players who play Taylormade clubs, Day had previously worn all Adidas apparel. However, Adidas recently decided to sell parts of its golf division — including Taylormade — and will no longer be directly linked to the club manufacturer.
By being aggressive with apparel partnerships, Nike could end up making more money in the golf industry now than it did when it was making clubs. Nike clubs were not wildly popular on the PGA Tour, and players can now sign deals strictly with Nike apparel and still choose whichever equipment they want to play.
For now, Adidas will have to hope its newest client’s baseball career pans out. Losing Day can’t be good for business.
The Rio Olympics have lost yet another top competitor to Zika virus concerns, as Jason Day announced on Tuesday that he will not be taking part.
Day, who is the top-ranked golfer in the world and was set to represent Australia, released a statement explaining that he does not want to put his family at risk.

The Zika virus is transmitted through mosquitoes and can cause serious birth defects and other complications. Fellow PGA golfer Rory McIlroy has made the same decision as Day, and more are sure to follow. One NBA player says he is considering freezing a sperm sample before he travels to Rio if he decides to represent his country in the Olympics.
Golf is returning to the Olympics this summer for the first time since 1904.
Ellie Day, wife of pro golfer Jason Day and victim of a LeBron James mack truck collision Thursday night, tweeted out a note Friday afternoon about the incident.
If you’re unfamiliar, Jason and Ellie Day were seated courtside Thursday night when James barreled into her while chasing a loose ball. Ellie Day had to be stretchered off and spent the night in the hospital, but was released on Friday morning and all seems to be well.
Ellie Day tweeted an extensive statement on Friday afternoon addressing several points. She compared the impact to a “minor car accident” and that her entire body felt like it was hit by a truck. Day also hit out at those who felt she didn’t do enough to get out of the way, or that Jason should have tried to do something.

“It was a blur,” Day wrote. “To the crazies that think Jason should have protected me — if he had time to react, so would have I. Also, I would not have liked both dudes landing on me. Lebron is huge and had such momentum he could not have stopped!!”
She also ripped those who accused it of being some sort of money grab or publicity stunt, saying she understands the risks of sitting courtside and saying the players are just “huge men doing their job.” She also thanked everyone for the support and expressed thankfulness that she wasn’t still pregnant and didn’t have her children with her.
All in all, it sounds as though Day is doing fine and is taking the whole ordeal well, and that’s great to hear.
Ellie Day, the wife of PGA golfer Jason Day, was released from the hospital Friday morning after being admitted following a scary collision with LeBron James.
UPDATE: Jason Day's wife released from hospital early Friday morning after courtside collision with LeBron James.

Day left Quicken Loans Arena on a stretcher Thursday night after LeBron barreled into her while trying to save a loose ball from going out of bounds. If you haven’t seen the video, you can watch it here.
Day was transported to a local hospital and apparently stayed overnight, though it’s a positive sign that she was released early the next morning. LeBron obviously felt badly about what happened and sat nearby Day as she was being taken out of the arena. He also wished her well in a tweet after the game.
Ellie Day I hope you're doing okay! My apologies! Hope u guys come back to another game soon. Love LJ!
— LeBron James (@KingJames) December 18, 2015
The Days live in Columbus, Ohio, and regularly attend Cavs home games. Ellie is popular with fans because she does things like awesome ticket giveaways. Here’s hoping the frightening incident doesn’t discourage her from going to future games.
