Audio reveals Tom Brady’s response to Julian Edelman saying ‘he’s coming back’

The NFL offseason has reached the point where fans and the media are trying to read Tom Brady’s lips any time he makes a public appearance, and an exchange the star quarterback had with Julian Edelman at the Syracuse-North Carolina game on Saturday was the latest example of that. As it turns out, nothing Brady said while cameras were rolling was all that noteworthy.

Brady and Edelman were shown on the ESPN broadcast, and Edelman decided to needle his buddy by telling viewers at home that Brady is “coming back.” It initially looked like Brady responded and may have said something along the lines of “he’s not,” but that was not the case. In fact, Brady wasn’t even responding to Edelman.

NFL Network isolated the audio, and it turns out Brady was actually responding to a separate question. Another person who was not shown on camera had asked Brady what he said to Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim, and Brady replied “he’s got it.”

That was fun while it lasted. It was also a reminder of why we shouldn’t try to read lips, because most of the speculation about what Brady said to Edelman was completely inaccurate.

Edelman obviously wants Brady to return to the Patriots, and the receiver is even selling T-shirts to send a message. If Brady ends up signing with another team, Edelman may be more crushed than fans in New England.

Julian Edelman is launching an all-out effort to try to keep Tom Brady in New England.

Edelman’s latest move is to sell an election-themed T-shirt urging Brady to stay with the Patriots in 2020, complete with a campaign slogan.

It’s no secret that Edelman and Brady are close. The wide receiver has made no secret that he wants Brady to stay, and he even seems to have jokingly annoyed the quarterback with some of his proclamations.

Whether Brady will actually leave New England is definitely a matter of debate, and to be honest, there’s probably nothing Edelman can do about that decision one way or the other. He is definitely doing whatever possible to make sure Brady knows how much he’s valued, though.

Tom Brady and Julian Edelman are hanging out at Saturday’s game between North Carolina and Syracuse, and Edelman is trying to make some proclamations about Brady’s future.

Edelman and Brady were sitting alongside Jimmy Fallon at Saturday’s game, and ESPN cameras caught them sitting courtside. Edelman could be seen clearly mouthing “he’s coming back,” which prompted a rather unimpressed look from Brady.

Brady definitely seems to enjoy the uncertainty about his future. He even leaned into that uncertainty as part of a Super Bowl ad campaign.

Where will Brady play next season? It depends on what you read, but considering his wife doesn’t even seem to know, it may be that he doesn’t have an answer either. Edelman’s encouragement probably isn’t based on fact at the moment.

Julian Edelman sends clear message to Tom Brady about free agency

Julian Edelman does not want to catch passes from a quarterback other than Tom Brady next season, and the veteran wide receiver has moved beyond the point of trying to conceal his feelings.

When Brady posted that cryptic photo on social media last week that ended up being a teaser for a Super Bowl ad, Edelman issued a somewhat subtle response in the form of a funny meme that swapped his face on John Cusack’s from “Say Anything.” On Tuesday, Edelman shared the same meme again. Only this time, he included the caption “Baby come back” and tagged Brady in the post.

That doesn’t leave much open for interpretation. Edelman isn’t about to let Brady abandon him without a fight. The two have had a hardcore bromance that spans over many years now, and Edelman doesn’t want Brady to throw it all away for a few more bucks or a fresh start at age 42.

A report over the weekend claimed the Patriots are prepared to spend big to keep Brady, but at least one AFC rival is waiting for the opportunity to pry him away from New England. If Brady leaves, there’s no telling what Edelman might do.

Tom Brady may not have been dropping a hint about his playing future when he posted a cryptic photo on social media Thursday, but Julian Edelman seems to be playing along after the picture sent New England Patriots fans into a collective panic.

Edelman shared a funny meme on his Instagram story on Friday and tagged Brady in it. It was a reference to the famous scene from the movie “Say Anything…” and was clearly Edelman’s way of begging Brady not to break up with him.

That isn’t going to make Patriots fans feel any better, though Edelman could very well be trolling.

The photo Brady posted showed him walking out of the tunnel inside a stadium, presumably Gillette Stadium. His back is turned to the camera and the photo is in black and white, which gave it a somewhat ominous feel. Some Patriots fans believe it was Brady’s way of hinting that he is leaving the team this offseason, though one report claims the post had nothing to do with Brady’s playing future.

Julian Edelman has shoulder surgery, expected to be ready for offseason

Julian Edelman dealt with multiple injuries down the stretch of the 2019 season, and the star receiver has already undergone surgery to address one of them.

Edelman underwent a shoulder procedure last week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. The veteran is not expected to face a lengthy rehab and should be ready to participate in the New England Patriots’ offseason program.

In addition to the shoulder injury, Edelman played through a knee injury that was also described as serious. It is unclear if he will need surgery for that as well.

Edelman was by far New England’s best receiver in 2019 despite the injuries, as he caught 100 passes for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns. Between the shoulder procedure and his embarrassing arrest in Beverly Hills, he has already had an eventful offseason.

Tom Brady appears to take swipe at Julian Edelman over arrest

Julian Edelman got himself into trouble over the weekend after he allegedly had a bit too much to drink, but the star receiver’s favorite teammate knows a way to help him recover.

Tom Brady posted a series of promotions for his TB12 products on his Instagram story Tuesday, and one of them appeared to include a swipe at Edelman. Brady held up a bottle of TB12 electrolytes that are touted as an “all natural hydration” supplement, and he tagged Edelman in the photo and wrote “it sounds like you need some of these.”

Edelman was arrested in Beverly Hills on Saturday night after he allegedly jumped on the hood of somebody’s Mercedes. Police suspected he had been drinking, which makes sense. The 33-year-old was cited for misdemeanor vandalism and released.

Brady and Edelman are close friends, and they have been known to trade barbs on social media. Apparently there is not much that is off-limits with the heckling — even arrests.

Julian Edelman arrested for allegedly jumping on hood of car

Julian Edelman has had a rough past week or so, and we aren’t just talking about the New England Patriots’ disappointing playoff loss to the Tennessee Titans. Now, the star receiver can also add an arrest to his list of problems.

Edelman was arrested in Beverly Hills on Saturday night after he allegedly jumped on the hood of a person’s Mercedes, according to TMZ. Police were in the area working a robbery, and someone flagged them down to report what Edelman had done. The 33-year-old was cited for misdemeanor vandalism and released.

It’s unclear why Edelman decided to hop on the hood of someone’s car, but TMZ reports that police suspected he had been drinking. The Los Angeles County District Attorney will now decide whether or not to proceed with charges, though it seems like the type of case Edelman could easily settle by writing a check to the owner of the vehicle.

Edelman had one awesome play during New England’s loss to the Titans, but he also had a key dropped pass that killed a drive. He battled injuries throughout the season and is expected to have surgeries on both his shoulder and knee this offseason. He also has some legal trouble to sort out.

Video: Tom Brady yelling at Julian Edelman faked out the Titans defense so hard

Julian Edelman slot

Julian Edelman scored the New England Patriots’ first touchdown of their Wild Card Game on Saturday against the Tennessee Titans on an end-around, and he did so thanks to some help from Tom Brady.

The Patriots lined up in a single back set with Edelman lined up wide to the left. Brady yelled at him “Julian, get in the slot!”

Edelman then motioned into the slot.

Was Edelman really lost on the play? The complete opposite. The Patriots were only making Tennessee think that was the case, because they gave the ball to Edelman, who sprinted into the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown run.

The Patriots will use everything to their advantage, including little mind games like that one.

That sort of trick may only work once as long as opposing defenses prepare for it, but that was a great time to use it. And Edelman might have to amend this quote to include “and for tricks.”

Julian Edelman says he feels better than he has in weeks heading into Titans game

The health of Julian Edelman could be one of the main reasons the New England Patriots struggled on offense during the regular season, but the star receiver insists his health is trending in the right direction ahead of the biggest game of the year.

Edelman has been dealing with knee and shoulder injuries in recent weeks, and reports have claimed both are significant. However, he told WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” on Thursday that his health will not be a factor on Saturday night against the Tennessee Titans. In fact, Edelman says he feels better now than he has in weeks.

“I feel good, and that’s that,” Edelman said, as transcribed by Darren Hartwell of NBC Sports Boston. “I feel better than I have in the last few weeks, and I feel good enough to go out and compete at a high level.”

Edelman did not miss a game during the regular season and caught an impressive 100 passes for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns. He had just 10 total catches over the final three games, however, and his injuries were almost certainly a factor.

Despite all that, Edelman has made it clear he is tired of talking about how banged up he is. He and Brady have continued to downplay their injuries all season, but it has been a while since both players looked 100 percent healthy. If that changes in the postseason, they have a chance to make a run. If not, they may not advance past Tennessee.
