Watch: Did Klay Thompson impersonate the Kawhi Leonard laugh?

Klay Thompson

Kawhi Leonard brought us one of the funniest memes of the year when he broke out an awkward laugh during his introductory press conference with the Toronto Raptors, and there are some who think Klay Thompson took a shot at him over it on Sunday.

While speaking with reporters in advance of Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Thompson was asked a question about whether he thinks he will be able to bring some of his typical Game 6 heroics to Game 5 with the Golden State Warriors facing elimination. He began his response with a sarcastic laugh, and it was one that sounded extremely familiar.

Compare that with Leonard’s laugh from back in September, which you can see at the 25-second mark below:

If you saw all the Twitter reactions to Leonard’s laugh, it isn’t that hard to believe that Thompson was poking fun at Kawhi. He better be careful, however, because Leonard has already looked possessed on the court. The last thing anyone on the Golden State side needs to do is motivate him further.

Klay Thompson’s celebration after 3-pointer had people debating

Klay Thompson

Klay Thompson’s celebration after making a shot in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday had fans debating his intent.

Thompson returned from a hamstring strain that kept him out of Game 3 of the series and played well in the first half of Game 4, leading the Warriors in scoring.

Late in the second quarter, he made a long jumper near the corner and celebrated with his hands near his groin.

The celebration was noted by many fans, but there was a debate about whether he was doing the Russell Westbrook “rock the baby” celebration or the Sam Cassell Big Balls Dance.

The way he curled his hands makes us think he was doing something closer to the Cassell celebration. Whatever the case, the way he was playing while fighting through an injury was worthy of any kind of celebration he wanted.

Drake trolls Klay Thompson after Raptors win Game 3

Drake Draymond Green

Drake did not travel to Oracle Arena in Oakland for Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night, but the Toronto Raptors superfan made sure to get himself involved in the postgame storyline.

After the Raptors beat the Golden State Warriors 123-109, the popular rapper posted a photo on his Instagram story trolling Klay Thompson, who did not play in the game due to his strained hamstring. The photo was an old one of Klay shirtless with a few women. “Stay Golden my friends…goodnight” was his message, along with some laughing emojis.

Drake has been going back-and-forth with the Warriors throughout the series, trading trash talk and adding a fun element to the battle between the teams. All his talk seems to be in good fun considering he is friendly with their players.

Report: Klay Thompson likely to play in Game 4

Klay Thompson

The Golden State Warriors apparently only expect Klay Thompson’s absence from the NBA Finals to last one game.

Thompson suffered a right hamstring strain in Game 2 of the Finals on Sunday and missed the end of the game with the injury. He was termed a game-time decision for Game 3 of the series on Wednesday, and the Warriors only announced he would miss the game around a half hour prior to game time.

During her report before the start of Game 3, ESPN reporter Doris Burke shared that Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told them Thompson is “likely to play in Game 4.”

The Warriors were thinking long term with their handling of Thompson. They did not want to rush him back to action and see him hurt his hamstring even more, potentially rendering him unavailable for the remainder of the series. Instead, they figured they would go in Game 3 without him so that he would be closer to full strength for Game 4 and the remaining games of the series.

Golden State won on Sunday to even the series at 1-1.

Warriors consider Klay Thompson game-time decision

Klay Thompson

Klay Thompson’s status for Game 3 of the NBA Finals will go down to the wire.

Coach Steve Kerr called Thompson a game-time decision roughly 90 minutes before tipoff, with pregame training work likely to be decisive in whether he goes or not.

Earlier reporting by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne stated that Warriors doctors would prefer to hold Thompson out, but the player himself is pushing to play through his hamstring issue.

Thompson has, all along, been steadfast in his desire to play. If he gets his way, he’ll be in. If he sits, it will almost certainly be over his objections.

Klay Thompson questionable, Kevon Looney out for Game 3

Klay Thompson

The Golden State Warriors provided updates Monday night on the status of two players who were injured in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday.

Klay Thompson underwent an MRI on his hamstring after injuring it on Sunday and has a mild strain. He is questionable for Wednesday’s Game 3.

Kevon Looney has a non-displaced first costal cartilage fracture and will be out indefinitely.

Looney was averaging 7.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 20.3 minutes per game this postseason. He provides excellent depth at the center position for the Warriors. His absence should be buoyed by the presence of DeMarcus Cousins, who returned from a quad injury to play in both Games 1 and 2 of the Finals.

Thompson is a major contributor to Golden State on both ends of the floor. He suggested immediately after Sunday’s game that he would not miss Game 3. Known for his toughness, Thompson did not miss any games in last year’s Finals despite injuring his ankle.

The series is tied 1-1 between Golden State and Toronto. The next two games will be played at Oracle Arena in Oakland.

Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson trade trash talk with Drake after Game 2

The trash talk between Drake and the Golden State Warriors continues.

Klay Thompson exited Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night with a hamstring injury suffered in the fourth quarter. Kevin Durant was not playing as he continues to recover from his calf injury. Though neither player was on the floor at the end of the win, they made their contributions with some trash talk.

KRON reporter Jason Dumas captured this video exchange which shows Thompson and Durant talking with Drake, the Raptors superfan/ambassador.

“See you in the Bay, Aubrey. Weren’t talking tonight, were ya?” Thompson could be heard saying.

Aubrey is Drake’s first name by birth — he just goes by his middle name on stage — so that’s a jab from Thompson at the music artist.

Though the Warriors have been trading trash talk with Drake during the series, it’s all somewhat in fun considering Draymond Green got together with him.
