20 NFL players who will thrive with their new team

Richard Sherman

The NFL free agency frenzy has officially come and gone, and while there are still plenty of moves to be made, the noteworthy trades, signings, releases and tenders are all set in stone.

Free agency itself was as wild as ever, but the trade market was also far more active than usual. And as the result of both, a plethora of superstars have new homes heading into the 2018.

Here’s a look at 20 NFL players who will thrive with their new team.

20. Justin Pugh, OL, Arizona Cardinals

Behind Andrew Norwell, Nate Solder and one or two others, Justin Pugh was arguably the most talented offensive lineman available in free agency. The versatile Pugh proved himself to be a selfless team-first player with the Giants, shifting positions based on the team’s needs. He played both tackle and guard positions, and played relatively well at each. With some positional stability in Arizona, Pugh should excel so long as he can remain healthy.

Jared Goff seems excited about Rams signing Ndamukong Suh

Jared goff

Jared Goff is the only quarterback in the NFL who does not have to worry about going up against Ndamukong Suh and Aaron Donald, and that is a thought that should help him sleep much easier at night.

Almost immediately after the Rams announced on Monday that they have signed Suh to a one-year deal, Goff showed how much he approves with a simple tweet.

And Goff isn’t the the only member of the organization who is glad to have Suh on his side.

Whoever is in charge of the Rams’ Twitter account also got in on the fun:

Suh reportedly took less money than another team offered him so he could sign with the Rams, and you can understand why. The star defensive tackle should have plenty of opportunities to terrorize opposing quarterbacks while playing alongside Donald. L.A. has also added star cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib this offseason, so they are clearly going all-in. That should make life a lot easier for Goff and his offensive teammates.

Ndamukong Suh signs one-year deal with Rams, takes less money

Ndamukong Suh

Ndamukong Suh has finally decided where he wants to continue his football career, and Los Angeles Rams fans will be quite pleased with his choice.

The Rams announced on Monday that they have signed Suh to a one-year deal. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the deal is worth $14 million and that the defensive tackle took less money from L.A. than he was offered elsewhere.

The Rams have seemed like the favorite to land Suh all along, and their defensive front should be among the best in the NFL with Suh and Aaron Donald rushing opposing quarterbacks. Suh also considered signing with the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans.

While he recently turned 31, Suh did not miss a game in his three seasons with the Miami Dolphins and has continued to play at a high level. He was reportedly released for reasons other than football, but that didn’t scare the Rams away.

Rams reportedly the favorite to sign Ndamukong Suh

Ndamukong Suh

Ndamukong Suh should be revealing his free agency decision any day now, and the most likely scenario seems to be that he winds up with the Los Angeles Rams.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Rams are considered the favorite to sign Suh despite those close to the star defensive tackle insisting the Tennessee Titans and New Orleans Saints are still in play.

That falls in line with what a Rams source reportedly told ESPN’s Josina Anderson last week.

While he recently turned 31, Suh did not miss a game in his three seasons with the Miami Dolphins and has continued to play at a high level. The thought of him playing alongside Aaron Donald is one that should keep opposing quarterbacks up at night, and we know one other team has taken itself out of the running to sign Suh. Los Angeles would be a good landing spot for him.

Jets rescind offer to Ndamukong Suh

Ndamukong Suh

You can count the New York Jets out of the Ndamukong Suh race.

Jets owner Christopher Johnson said on Sunday that the team has rescinded its offer to Suh, a free agent defensive lineman. According to SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano, Johnson said that signing Suh did not fit in with the team’s long-term plan.

The Jets seem more like a team building for the future rather than being in win-now mode, which makes sense why Suh wouldn’t fit in with their long-term plan. But the team had so much cap space after being unable to reel in Kirk Cousins that perhaps their GM was eager to spend it elsewhere, hence the offer to Suh.

Suh had positive visits with the Titans and Saints. And there’s one NFC West team that thinks they have a good shot of landing him.

Jets a ‘serious contender’ for Ndamukong Suh, have reportedly offered most money

Ndamukong Suh

Ndamukong Suh is inching closer to making a free agency decision, and a new team has entered the mix — the New York Jets.

Suh, who has taken visits with the Los Angeles Rams, Tennessee Titans and New Orleans Saints, told Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports that the Jets are a “serious contender” to sign him.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Jets have offered Suh more money than any of the aforementioned teams.

The Rams said earlier in the week that they feel good about their chances of signing Suh, but it certainly makes it interesting that he would have to take less money to sign with them or any team other than the Jets.

While he recently turned 31, Suh did not miss a game in his three seasons with the Miami Dolphins and has continued to play at a high level. He was reportedly released for reasons other than football, but that hasn’t seemed to scare any potential suitors away.

Ndamukong Suh

Ndamukong Suh appears to have narrowed his free agency decision down to three teams, and at least one of those teams considered it a good sign when the star defensive tackle canceled his scheduled visit with the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday.

ESPN’s Josina Anderson spoke with a Los Angeles Rams source who seems to feel fairly confident in the team’s chances of signing Suh.

In addition to the Rams, Suh also took visits with the Tennessee Titans and New Orleans Saints. All three teams would be good fits, but the thought of him playing alongside Aaron Donald is one that should be downright terrifying for opposing quarterbacks.
