Samantha Goudie, better known to the internet world as Vodka Samm, disappeared from the online world after experiencing
infamy fame for blowing a .341 during an arrest at an Iowa football game on August 31.
The University of Iowa senior opened up to the Daily Iowan in her first interview since her story went viral last month. In the interview, Goudie says she was embarrassed by all the attention she received and went into a depression.
“I was completely embarrassed by the whole situation,” Goudie confessed to the Daily Iowan. “I hated going to class.
“I’ve struggled with depression, so I kind of went into a depression for a little bit.”
Goudie also reveals that she was hospitalized for three months in 2012 because of an eating disorder. She is planning to go to graduate school for social work so she can help others.
Goudie says she declined interview requests and endorsement opportunities in the wake of her story getting national attention.
“I didn’t come to college to drink and be Vodka Samm.”

Samantha Goudie, the Iowa student who was arrested for allegedly trying to get on the field during the Iowa-Northern Illinois game on Saturday, was absolutely wasted when she took her mug shot … no surprise.
As you can see on the whiteboard held by a university police officer, Goudie “refused” a blood alcohol test. Goudie later took a breathalyzer, likely in jail, where she blew the legendary .341.
Goudie has become an Internet sensation since her story went viral over the past few days. Unfortunately, she has toned it down on her “Vodka Samm” Twitter account lately, which features her flipping the double bird as her profile picture. She even just made her Twitter account private.
Maybe Sam’s becoming a little uncomfortable with her newfound fame. Or maybe she’s just in the middle of a bender.

University of Iowa student Samantha Goudie has become something of an American folk hero after blowing a .341 following her arrest for allegedly trying to run onto the field during Iowa’s 30-27 loss to Northern Illinois on Saturday.
The University of Iowa Department of Public Safety released all information related to game-day arrests, and one of the people listed was Goudie, whose stats were much more impressive than anyone else’s that day:
Goudie, Samantha Lynne, 22 of Iowa City, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium at 1321 hours. Goudie was stopped for trying to enter the field. Goudie was unsteady on her feet. Goudie blew .341 PBT.
Read that last part. You see what that says? Blew a .341. A .341. Tony Gwynn’s career batting average was lower than .341. Your average Iowa student has a GPA lower than 341. You feeling me? I mean a .341 would put her behind what, only Ted Williams in the history of the game? This girl isn’t just a first-ballot Hall of Famer, she deserves the whole freaking museum and city named after her.
But if you thought that the .341 BAC was impressive — and we dare you to show us something better — then this story really is just beginning. For those who like hanging with people who are down, Goudie is your dream girl. DREAM GIRL.
As Deadspin pointed out to everyone, Goudie has the type of Twitter handle that perfectly matches her imbibing accomplishment: Vodka Samm.
Ladies and gentlemen, we introduce you to the wonderful world of Vodka Samm’s Twitter account, which is full of pictures of her drinking, partying, showing off her tattoos, and sharing talks about getting drunk.
Be warned, there is some foul language ahead.
