Missouri transfer QB Shawn Robinson pushing for immediate eligibility

Quarterback Shawn Robinson is pushing for immediate eligibility at Missouri.

Robinson transferred to Missouri in December after two seasons at TCU. The Kansas City Star’s Drew Davison and Alex Schiffer reported on Tuesday that Robinson has filed for a waiver to make him available to play immediately. Robinson is citing mistreatment by TCU, a claim the Horned Frogs are disputing. The nature of the alleged mistreatment has not been revealed.

Robinson dealt with injuries last season and played in seven games. He completed 60.8 percent of his passes for 1,334 yards, 9 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. He also rushed for 230 yards and 3 touchdowns.

If Robinson is granted eligibility, he would be able to compete with expected starter Kelly Bryant, a graduate transfer from Clemson. Robinson would be able to play in four games while still taking a redshirt year if he were cleared for this season.

Missouri is coming off an 8-5 season in head coach Barry Odom’s third year. They’re looking to build upon the success Drew Lock had at quarterback last season.

Each top 25 college football team’s most important player

Tua Tagovailoa

The college football season is upon us, which should have fans pumped across the country. Though it will take a while to get a sense for the best 25 teams in the country, we do have our preseason top 25 entering the first full slate of games. Those teams will be relying on some key players all season. Here is a look at the most important player for each of the preseason’s top 25 teams.

1) Alabama — Tua Tagovailoa, QB

After taking over the second half of the national championship game, Tagovailoa showed what he can do. He is mobile, fearless, and has a big arm. He can give Alabama the kind of big-play ability at quarterback they haven’t seen for a while — possibly ever. He has no shortage of talent around him, much of it NFL-level, and he has already demonstrated skill and poise in the most pressure-filled situation. Expect him to have a solid year at minimum.
