Look: Mets broadcast hilariously forgot opposing pitcher’s name

If you were watching Tuesday’s away broadcast between the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves, you might have had to do a double take.

Braves reliever Shane Greene entered the game in the eighth inning with a 6-2 lead, but the real story was the graphic that the Mets broadcast flashed as he was warming up. Appearing to forget his name, the graphic identified the right-hander simply as “Shane.” Take a look:

Greene, who was acquired by the Braves at the trade deadline after making the AL All-Star team this season with the Detroit Tigers, had posted an ugly 14.54 ERA in his first six appearances for Atlanta. “Shane,” on the other hand, was flawless, working a 1-2-3 inning against the Mets with a strikeout to boot.

Perhaps Greene will now go full Prince mode and just start going by the one name. In any case, he is not the only MLB Shane to encounter name troubles.
